Decorated. You might find it interesting the 2 letters. One sign by Roosevelt (start) and one by Truman (end).

I thought I would share a little about my Dad. Let me know if you interested.

                      Bob,

I am sorry for your loss. Life has lots of joy and lots of sadness I only hope he left you with more joy than sadness. My family will keep you and your loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.

For some reason those letters are deeply moving...
Not so much the letters themself or even what it says on them, but what they represent... and what your father went through to deserve them.

I can tell you he does not remember what he did to get the Bronze Star medal. He was blown up and had shell shock. For a few years after WWII, he did not know who he was. They used electro-shock therapy on him to try and erase the shell shock from his memory. It worked about 2 years later. He then remembered who he was but could not remember much about his actions in WWII. He had 2 Purple Hearts but lost them during that 2 year period as he did not know what they were for.

A few interviews before he was blown up.

By the way, my Uncle - Lewis White (not Louis as the paper said) was killed on the beaches of Normandy. My middle name is his. He is buried in Salerno Italy at a military cemetery.
