Chrome is my favorite browser. No matter what device I'm on, I can log in as me and all of my bookmarks are in place and my settings are intact. Since I'm now working with multiple Windows devices...it really comes in handy.
For the past few weeks, I have been plagued with random pop-ups for advertisements. Two tabs pop up each time...usually one asking me to install some bogus video player. I've tried multiple pop-up blockers, and multiple system cleaners to extract anything from my PC's.
The problem is that whichever device I use Chrome from, the pop-up's appear....and I haven't installed anything out of the ordinary on ALL of them. Some are brand new Windows tablets I've been testing that don't have ANY shareware or tools installed on them....just Chrome.
So I'm afraid that my Chrome account itself is infected.
The other day, I logged into my Chrome settings and erased all of the History data and all cookies, thinking that would fix the problem. Within a day, the pop-up's started appearing again.
I've run ADWClearner, JRT, Spybot, AVG....each time I run them, they usually find something and delete them....but within an hour or so...the pop-up's are back. Now, I'm getting the pop-up's appearing on my laptop and desktop PC's when Chrome isn't even running. The other day, I came home to find my Chrome browser running with about 50 tabs of these pop-ups.
I'm almost to the point of creating a new Chrome account and starting over...but before I do that....I thought I would ask my Freaktab buddies if they have encountered the same thing....and if they've found a solution.
So far, the pop-up's haven't been porn or anything that my kid's shouldn't see....but who knows what will happen in the future.
Any ideas?
