Mask mode Vsmart Q8

Hi my device is stuck on red light on following pressing reset button. I can get it of it and my PC windows 7 or windows 8.1. I have tried my daughters and that is recognized as rock USB in device manager and bootloader in Android tool v 2.3. Is there away physically on the board to reset as the button doesn't seem to do anything? Can i short some pins or something

Got it in mask mode with ease and flashed the firmware from geekbuying.com and androidtools states success. But still a red light? And it is now seen as loader device in androidtools, i think i must be missing something. I usually use the amlogic boxes but thought i would get this due to the better ethernet .

When trying to do a low level format i get match device fail in mask mode or if i try upgrade i get prepare idb fail, any ideas how i can low level format this box

If your board is labelled XT-q8l-v10 you can use RKM MK902II firmwares, since are compatible (except remote)

Tried the but no matter which tool i use i am always stuck at the very end wait for loader then fail. It erases fine in rkandroid tools v2.3 but always same error even same in rkbatchtools v1.71 clicking restore

Then you have a locked bootloader and can't do anything.

That's it! So as i wanted to reflash the device as WIFI wasn't working i press the reset button and it stays on red and that's it bricked? That's unbelievable think i will stick to Amlogic after this experience. I thought when you were flashing it you were installing a bootloader am i not correct? Whats the point of mask mode? Surely the bootloader is on the flash?

I have flashed q8 using RKM firmware, and I didn't need to enter mask mode or load something before. I just used RKBatchTool with restore option and that's it.

The Q8 devices like the Q7 and AMLogic devices sold by ENY usually have these flashing firmware faults.
They use low quality RAM and locked bootloaders and less than 3A power adapters, best to avoid these boxes.
If your stuck in maskrom mode, 90% of the time you'll be stuck there forever and flashing won't work.
It's never best to pay less to save costs then paying a little more and have no problems afterwards.
Don't write RK3288 off, they have great performance over AMLogic devices but you need to get a quality device like HPH NT-V6B or UGOOS UT3S, all the other makes have some firmware or hardware issues, but some people have gotten other boxes working great after using different firmware.

I have software and instructions to reflash & unlock bootloaders and flash firmware from scratch, if the normal flashing procedures don't work but it's difficult if I don't have the device in front of me as it can be a completely different problem.
Also try
- 3A Power adapter
- USB port from back of the PC
- Disable power saving mode for the USB port in Control Panel
- Flash stock firmware

Hi mate thanks the reply sounds interesting i don't have 3A power adapter with that size of fitting. All other things you mention i have done. I would sure appreciate giving the your instructions a go and software as if i don't this will end up in the bin. I sometimes get the message failed IDB what does this mean? Was thinking the flash is corrupt and will need a low level format but none of the tools provided do this. Also my daughter has same box working can i do anything from that end that would help?

Maybe is cable problem ,use diferent cable to conect q8 with pc,maybe is not good cable

Not really sure how this will work as i don't think any of the tools out just now support serial connections.

Been in touch with the seller who is speaking to factory, incidentally the firmware they have supplied me with is dated Dec and was not too bad when working just no WIFI. Can i reflash stock without the loader if this is what is casuing the problems. Will original loader remain in device as it's locked? Also i noticed from my backup a lockbin was created will these be needed?
