    Rikomagic MK80LE strange

    Hi,

I received my MK80LE and the first thing I tried to do was to install a VNC server so I could connect to it from my Mac.

I configured a few things formatted the missing disk space etc and then decided to try out the the system.

YouTube is unusable, not choppy, just disgusting. I can't play music from RDIO ..

So I'm wondering, did I screw it up when I installed x11vnc or are these things just not designed for MultiMedia ?

Should I just reinstall the firmware, the instructions look daunting not to mention I have to find a Windows computer somewhere to run the Chinese Flash software ..

Anyone else have one of these and will to share their experience with me ?

    Thanks very much in advance,

    Jerry Rocteur
P.S I want to use it as s DEV system and Web server but it would be nice to have MultiMedia working.

My experiences with HD content at the released Linux for the Draco aren't the best (http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...612#post405612 (http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...e-acceleration)), so I think you will be at the same situation with the LinuxEdition of the MK80LE...

      A quick update

The initial Phoenix suite software provided by RKM was not the correct one, they have since the sent me a link a different version which allowed me to flash the MK80LE.

Youtube is fine and usable, I had in fact screwed it up when installing X11vnc

I do hope they improve the firmware though because as it is, my very cheap android 3188 device is much better for media.

I'm not sure if the remote control that comes with it does anything whilst running Linux.

Documentation is scarce and there is not really a user community I can find.

An important point I had not mentioned before, if you live in Europe and you buy directly from Rikomagic, you'll pay €35 import taxes.

      Regards,

      Jerry

I'm just curious if it is possible to flash MK80 with Linux flash from MK80LE . Could you share the links for the flash image and correct Phoenix suite ?

          Hi,

Yes, the MK80LE flashes Linux fine once you have the correct software and img file.

          This is the installer:
          http://rikomagic.co.uk/downloads/fir...nixSuit_CN.msi

This is the Zip. Don't use the PhoenixSuit inside it.

          Regards,

          Jerry
