    MiniX X7 news

Ok, guys, as i talked in other tread, thanks for bob to creat this sub-forum for us talking about the newest rk3188 mini pc, we, geekbuying.com, has put a lot of time in this newest quad core mini pc, so we will help to share as much as information with you guys.

MiniX neo X7, which get lots of questions since minix release the news. I have visited minix on Hongkong Electronic fair, and check the X7 sample by myself.

It will use Rockchip RK3188 quad core chip, Mali 400 GPU, and have bluetooth, ethernet port, optical port, micro/headphone port, 2GB DDR3, and 16GB storage, come with android 4.2 jelly bean.

However, after release this design, most of the customer said this design is so bad, they want a similar design like NEO X5. so Minix tell us, they have to re-design the MINIX X7, and the release date for NEO X7 should be in the middle of June.

As Minix's strategic cooperation partner, Geekbuying will get the first sample for MiniX NEO X7, and will have the first bulk to sell.

    Stay tuned with us!

Good to heard that design will be remaid, the X5 was a very good design, elegant and simply.

        Design

Terribly ugly design like a bad plastic toy. If you have someone to look up to him with a plan on such a device, plans to build a much better gift!

Hmm, the Minix facebook page says Q3 2013 for the X7, was hoping for a bit sooner than that!

Q3? Well technically we're already there. But if they're thinking the end of Q3 - then they're pushing the envelope on value. Market lost to other manufacturers, and newer SoC's in the pipe... just my 2 cents.

I'm glad they are going for a X5 design, they need built in multiple usb ports also... Optical audio is a nessesity I saw it in the specs but I didn't see it in the pic...

I'd rather them take their time and do it right instead of rushing something out and regretting it.

While I do agree with your principle - especially with the issues experienced with the RK3188 sticks so far - You can't really blame MiniX for "rushing" the X7... ^^,

What I don't understand is why they haven't done / didn't announce HDMI multichannel passthrough. SDK2.0 clearly enabled the possibility - and this is supposed to be a flagship right? Sure, alot of TV's don't support multichannel passthrough - but some do, and many of us connects to a reciever that does decoding & switching - and THEN on to the TV.

Not doing it on that basis would be equal to saying "We won't support audio over bluetooth, because most bluetooth keyboards don't have built-in speakers". Its idiotic.

What I did see, was that they announced "Mulitchannel AC-3" on the toslink connection. You guys think this is an actual limitation, or simply that they don't have the licencing to natively support DTS, DTS-ES etc?
