    Pipo X7 VS X7S (pictures)

    Pipo X7 inside:

    Back of the Pipo X7S:

Notice the extra reset hole and micro USB. On the inside you can find the reset button. The pads for the button are available on the X7, but no button is solderd.

    PCB:

Top right you can see the reset button.

PIPO X7S left, PIPO X7 right:

    - Left of the screw mount you see the pads for a new (micro) USB connector?
    - Right of the screw mount hole you see the new connector.

Unfortunately this last one is not focused.
    - They removed the extra - what looked like (unused) ''USB port'' in the X7S and a new connection is introduced like you can see above.

Any specific parts you want to see? let me know!

Very interesting. I wonder if we are able to add such mods to our own x7's. I would love to have an internal USB to add in my usb-to-gigabit dongle instead of it being on the outside.

I'm not sure (I don't think) it's USB, because USB 2.0 only needs 4 connections/pinout (and USB 3.0 needs 9) http://www.moddiy.com/pages/USB-2.0-...6-Pinouts.html but maybe the fifth at the pcb is only a "dead one"

Have you noticed any thermal throttling? I can't see any additional cooling on the X7S over the original X7.

Quite sure the heat will be quite the same. Did order some more (good quality) thermalpad to put between the motherboard and casing. For now I just placed the (real) copper heatsinks and replaced the blue thermalpad on the processor. While making it a bit better its still throttling from time to time, under Android this is less of a problem then under windows in my experience so far.

What is annoying is that PIPO did not deliver the X7S with Playstore nor a easy way to root. So for now you need to sideload apps, which is a shame.

If they have made no effort to provide better cooling then it is one box that I shall avoid.

That's what it is, it's an LVDS connector.

Oké, could be nice to install a screen to the device. Would make a good internet radio with a USB DAC, besides a normal mediaplayer.

after seeing trebors x8 post you can see that that is definitely an lvds cable for the lcd and the pins to the right of the board seem to be for the digitizer from the looks but some parts have been removed sadly.
