Some advice that could save you around $120

The following piece of information could be worth around $120 to you. I've bricked my Meegopad and as I don't want it to happen to others I'm going to explain what I did so that nobody does the same thing otherwise they'll end up needing to buy a new device.

There's a new version of BIOS for 'Meegopad' devices which supports dualboot between Android and Windows. Similar to the existing dualboot tablets and the recently released dualboot Intel Z3735F dualboot minipcs, the BIOS switches from a 64-bit bootloader for Android to a 32-bit one for Windows 8.1.

I installed this new BIOS on my Meegopad and had dualboot working. Excited on having a 64-bit loader I tried booting a USB created only from a 64-bit Ubuntu ISO. No problem as it booted fine. So then I created a USB from the 64-bit Insider Preview ISO of Windows 10. Only this time booting gave me an error. And if you've ever tried booting the 64-bit version on the old BIOS this wouldn't come as a surprise.

However whatever went on between the BIOS and the bootloader when it tried to boot wasn't good. And now the device is bricked.

So if you want to save yourself around $120 don't try booting the 64-bit Insider Preview ISO of Windows 10 with the new dualboot BIOS in 64-bit bootloader mode.

As for me I'm now without a working Meegopad device. If I can scrape together enough from donations (http://goo.gl/nXWSGf) I'll buy a new 'old' model and document how to convert it to dualboot using the new BIOS. Either way I hope this posting helps someone.

    I send you a PM...

BTW: How do you generate the USB? Is it only for installation, or do you get a W10-To-Go (10074)?
I have to ask, because with rufus I was only able to generate a W10-To-Go with build 9926 (with every newer build I got an error at 99.8% and it was also only able to get the 9926 to use as WTG if I done it at an installed W10 (10041))...

For installation. I used Rufus v2.0.639 with build 9926 ... see my log here http://pastebin.com/eaargfkQ and compare with your log to see any difference ... note, partition scheme must be GPT with File system of FAT32 and Cluster size of 16 kilobytes. FYI the target USB was a 32GB and formatted as FAT 32 prior to being Rufused!

I posted up a quick guide over at armtvtech for flashing the bios chip with a programmer. I fixed my bricked t01 for under $15!

Once I get some pictures up I'll make a thread here too.

Great timing! I too have just unbricked my Meegopad T01 because having fallen well short of the required $100 to purchase a replacement I also looked into how I could reprogram the BIOS chip. Although it did cost more than double your solution at $34.60 it does remove the voltage risk and is probably a better approach when reprogramming multiple times. Details posted here

linuxium; the BIOS you flashed - Is it the one that meegopad recently uploaded to their baidu page?

              T01V03intel_20150210.bin (15ceb37f2e7dbd86a54ca98ce3b52c2d)

They have a couple of guides and videos uploaded recently. (and even cheekily they have your ubuntu image)

Sorry for the late reply. TBH I can't remember. However the BIOS in my post here works fine if you are interested.
