    Looks like a PiPo

    Surely its not a

    Improved heat dissipation

    Windows

On Booting we get two logo's Windows and Android lets go Windows first.
C drive Showing 12 GB free from 16.1 GB total size not much room there, other 16 for Android

Windows boot is snappy, all setup for England, so easy to find your way around had to change Language to alter keyboard layout
Has a legit Win8.1 with Bing, option to down load office.
58 updates to be done and add a few extra of my own.
    Wifi and ethernet speeds ok.
Setting up all went well no problems
Time to warm it up a little

A good one hour maxed it out actually 20 minutes but left it running no super high temps like others.

    Android
There is a WinToAnd Icon on desktop to get you to Android.
    Lets see what happens.
System reboots, smooth and greeted with RKM loading.

Into Android, easy, added WIFI account, Gmail, updated Apps through Google Play store easy.
A bit of a look around check out settings etc all good. more testing with Android to come

The switch back to Windows from Android again smooth and easy.

So first quick look look at the RKM MK 36 Dual Boot more testing to come.
The unit is working well no issues.
Performance of Both Android and Windows is good.
Space for Windows programs could be an issue if you attempt to load it up

OS Switch from Android to Windows

Bit of a glitch unable to place icons in lower area to use, reboot put all back in place.

After a Day of using unit with Windows then Android, the unit performs as expected, for this type of unit.
Bit of a glitch in Android with placing frequently used Apps in lower part of screen, have reported to RKM.
Android with Plex and Netflix as most other android boxes is good, as with windows
Unit is a PIPO X7S in an RKM box, on PCB one Large Samsung chip has been replaced with a Foresee.

The metal base with indent and 5 mm thermal pad has improved heat dissipation and there is enough room if need to fit heat sinks to the top as other have done with the PIPO.

With Google Playstore working, Improved heat dissipation this may be a option for those thinking of a Dual Boot System.

A few days of using the RKM MK 36 and its performance out of the box is good without adding any further cooling,
So if you like the idea of the PIPO this may be a good alternate
A 64gb version will be coming out soon.

      Cheers

I'm currently using a HiMedia q5 Quad but am unhappy with its performance. I recently bought an HP Mini Stream for my son and am impressed with everything about it (for use as a media player) except the price. The Rikomagic RKM MK 36 seems to offer all the benefits of the HP Stream Mini as well as the great option to use switch the OS.
My question is if the RKM MK 36 provides satisfactory video playback performance for all forts (either viaMPC HC on W8 or Kodi on Android.) Appreciate any thoughts you might have on this.

I find it pretty good I use Plex so easy not a big user of Kodi but have set it up and again its good,
Windows side works very well with Netflix, using Win8.1 App, RKM does not get as hot as others.
As you say the price compared to other units for the size and performance its good.
If you looking for a cheap solution to set up ideal, I use it with the K400r keyboard easy.

          Cheers

Many thanks, this is really helpful! I want to get Netflix in 1080 and stream live internet feeds (e.g. Olympics, World Cup, etc.) .and I haven't been able to get it to work very well with the Android tv boxes I've used so having both OS's in a machine that doesn't seem to have any significant issues (heat, etc.) will be great.

Note sure about that one but since its a PiPo inside I recall they have done or close to.

Received my MK36 and got it up and running. I've only tried the W8 side as I'm happy with that. As you said Trebor, Kodi runs fine, as does Youtube. I've loaded Flash, the Netflix app, Skype, CCleaner and Firefox browser and still have about 11gb free. Got some occasional screen flickering on Netflix but that may have been the app (hope its not my projector!).
Seemed to be a little hot but I'm not an expert and haven't checked the temps. I just put it up on some small blocks to get more air underneath, just in case
Just curious, I was wondering if there's any way to increase the RAM from 2gb to 4gb or is that impossible with this board?
Thanks also for the tip about the K400r keyboard, I got one and it works flawlessly.

                      Glad it all worked out,
No way to increase Ram as you mention it is what it is.
Flickering could be a HDMI cable thing.

                      Cheers

This Box I have now made into a Windows only box and removed Android as seen in another thread.
Still get the White boot screen but no Android logo as mention not a huge deal all working well.

                        Cheers

Now going to bring back Android when i find away

Hi Trebor. I have been looking at boxes for a bit and have enjoyed your threads. Thanks for all the info. Is there one dual-boot box that you would choose over any others? I mainly want to use it for Kodi and Youtube-type sites (Youtube, MioMio, etc). I like the dual-boot option for the Android flexibility and apps for kids. I also want to upgrade to Win 10 if possible, but that might not be a big deal. Thanks again!

                              Hey treefiddy

You may have read all around this place.

RKM is using PIPO parts not a bad box at all works well
New AINOL is using W8 parts this time around again a good Box.
New PIPO of last few days they has improved heat dissipation and also good
Voyo working well and a new model about.

                              All should take Win10 easy.

All pretty much the same, do the same thing, and units from around $100+ build quality is pretty much the same.
Not to many problems to be found only BIOS fiddles

Look for 64GB and give Windows a bit of room even tho the 32GB with dual do boot work well, if on a budget
In saying that the 32GB Windows only and a cheap 1/8GB Android would be an idea.
A dual boot may cause family squabbles one wants Windows other wants Android and of course you will come along and it will be for all.

Not much help I know but plenty happening around this place to get the grey matter thinking.
                              Buy from a reputable seller.

                              Cheers
