Problems with Beelink i one i826

    Hi

I bought an i826 from GearBest and I have some problems with it so I wanted to know if there are other owners that faces them too:

    1) I have no audio while watching HDMI input (full screen or PIP). It worked only the first couple of minutes when I received it but not since then.
    2) TV box freezes randomly, I can hardly watch a movie since I have to reboot from time to time. It happens in XBMC but also in YouTube or when browsing settings... Doesn't seem to be application specific but rather hardware or firmware issue
    3) Device info (android settings, xbmc or antutu) shows only 1 588MB of RAM but it is advertised as 2 GB
    4) Device info shows only 12 GB of storage while it is sold as 16 GB ROM

This is my fifth Android TV box/stick and my first bad experience like this... The selling specs are really good, but the result is not.

So far, I tried to restore to factory defaults with no success.
I also contacted beelink to get the firmware to flash it from scratch but receive no response.
I contacted GearBest support and they did not even tried to fix the issue but rather offering me 40$ refund to keep the device, which is no sense as it is nearly unusable, not as spececified and paid 112$. They also offer me to send me a replacement for additional 50$, but I have no more confidence on this product and I don't want to pay again to have the same results.

    Any thought?

I have just ordered this box so can't help you with specifics regarding your device but there's a couple of things I might help you with.

    1. Not sure what could be interfering but you could try clearing the application cache and data from settings, apps to see if the audio returns as it did on 1st boot,
    2. I had this happen to my 808b+ stick, would randomly reboot, freeze etc.. The problem was the 0.5a of power wasn't sufficient enough for the stick. Connected it to a 2a usb charger and it's been stable ever since. Perhaps the PSU isn't strong enough for all your attached devices, causing the issue in points 1 and 2. Try disconnecting everything but the essentials to operate and see if you can playback videos more stable like this. Disconnect HDMI in also.
    3. This will probably be because of running apps, taking down the available memory. Download diskinfo and see what it says in there.
    4. This is normal, the rom, SD partition all come from the available memory so 4gb is about standard for rom+SD partition. Again Diskinfo will tell you the correct sizes.

Regarding your issues in 1+2, they sound to me like power issues. If you have many usb devices, then you are better using a powered usb hub as it'll take the pressure of the psu.

Thanks for your reply. It rather looks as an internal hardware issue than a power issue.

Just for the sake, I tried with 2 different power adapters (Samsung and Apple), the result was the same.

About no sound, my first try was to reset to factory default and it didn't work, so clearing cache and data neither... It looks like something have fried inside when I loose audio, maybe that why it now hangs randomly.

Yesterday I also observed that it can't connect to my 5Ghz wifi. When choosing Wifi, I can only choose among 2.4Ghz networks.

I hope that you will receive a good working unit. Please give an update when you will have tried it.

My advice for everyone out there dont buy Beelink devices, the reason is that there is only 1 man "oman" behind the software ( as far as i know), but they are releasing so much devices that there is no time to really take care of the bugs...

What may I ask do you suggest to purchase that has better (or more) support ? I was really looking for specs similar or in line with the Beelink S82 Plus. Seems that has best specs of all for HDMI & 4K video. Gaming would be nice, but I don't really care for the gaming piece- more kodi, HDMI & 4k Video support though.

I assume you are talking maybe about the Tronfy MXIV Telos
Please let me know because I really need to get 2 great android TV boxes that can play / stream videos from my windows media center server and/or external hard drives + all kodi/xbmc streaming.
Gaming isn't that important but would be a nice touch.

WeTek is coming out with the WeTek.Core. It will have an Amlogic quad-core and support-o-plenty, I read. Also Amlogic is releasing two new SoCs, the S905 and S912. I'd consider waiting if you are not in a hurry.

That WeTek looks like it could be a really nice product. I can definitely hold out for a few if their S912 coming out is going to be up to par with specs like the Beelink S82 plus

I think WeTek will have the S812-H, here is a rundown of the WeTek.Core.
The dual-core used in the WeTeK.Play kept me from picking one up. Their use of a quad in the new WeTek.Core, has rekindled my interest. Their support of multiple OSes also has my interest. If they add tuners to these, one could definitely be in my future.
