Combination of firmware and XBMC/Kodi for the best MPEG-2 video rendering on Amlogic S802 based devices?

Many Cable/Sat/IPTV providers still use standard definition video streaming with Mpeg2 video codec. Amlogic claims full support of Mpeg2 video decoding and I don't have a reason not to believe this statement – with MX Player (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...videoplayer.ad) I can get the best Mpeg2 video quality, but MX Player isn't very convenient application to watch IPTV. I have tried unsuccessfully many firmware and XBMC/Kodi with Simple IPTV addon combinations in order to get the best video quality. Some standard definition Mpeg-2 channels plays fine with amcodec enabled, but many of them exibits heavy judder/stutter. Disabling amcodec and turning on software decoding mode fixes judder on SD channels, but introduces interlacing and, on the other hand, S802 devices isn't powerfull enough to decode 1080p IPTV streams in software decoding mode.

So I ask you to test this 30 sec. video with XBMC/Kodi:
MEGA provides free cloud storage with convenient and powerful always-on privacy. Claim your free 20GB now

Pay attention to a live stocks ticker. Does this video look deinterlaced (live stocks ticker should be clear and not jaggy) and play on your device without judder/stutter?
If you get positive results, please post you firmware and XBMC/Kodi version.

1G or 2G?!, and which Firmware are you currently on?
Another reason for jer-k-ky Videos might have to do whether you have 50 or 60Hz enabled.
Depending in the Source material SD Pal stuff looks best @ 50hz US NTSC/ATSC stuff runs @ 60hz. So you might want to crawl thorough the Settings, and change this first.

2G, I am on 109k4 and checked all modes already: 24, 50, 60 Hz, software, hardware decoding. As I said, MX Player plays mpeg2 material fine, it's only XBMC/Kodi which does not. Perhaps the cause lies in specific version of firmware, that is why I'm asking this forum for help before going to Kodi forum.

What XBMC/Kodi are You on? Try using Kodi 14.2, and the Simple IPTV Addon (PVR Addons). You can also scroll to the Movie real. You may take note that SD Material has a different set of Setting to other normal HD One. One of these Settings deals with the way SD Material gets deinterlaced. Have you checked that out as well?

My problems with internal IPTV (i.e. DVB-C to IPTV), stems from 111k4 ~ 114k4. But unlike you. I'm on a 1G Device, and my problems start when I tried to play HD content which is all in h.264 720p w/Dolby Digital the Box will chock so bad it'll lock the Box up tight.

On 109/110-k4 these problems do not exist for me though.
I don't watch much Live TV save for the News. which I bought the IPTV Box for.
as to the scrollers, again its probably down to a combination of the wrong Hz setting, the fact that your TV is even capable of 50/60 Hz, and finally the deinterlacing settings from with-in XBMC/Kodi.

Again you should probably be using 14.2 as its working very well at the moment.

im using the S802 with the Finless 1.7 ROM and Kodi 14.2, no lagging whatsoever. If you're using a stock firmware, flash it to Finless, its the most popular one right now. Highly recommended!

For a 2G that might work... But Finless IIRC = 111k4, and on 1G it will only end badly if you don't need laggy, j-j-jer-k-k-ky Live TV on 720p HD Channels. Then like every other 111k4~114k4 Firmware its best avoided in leu of 109k4/110k4.

And now in English? Whats the difference between 109k4/110k4/111k4~114k4 firmware? Im using the Amlogic M8 S802 device, 2GB RAM, 2.0GHz Quad Core ARM7 processor. I guess thats a 2nd generation device like you're referring to?

Dark4u made a pretty rock solid kernel for 720p for the MK devices that was known for improving 720p streaming, I wonder if one exists out there for the Beelink M8 devices?

Sorry about not knowing the local nomenclature, Im still learning as I go.

It [1G/2G] refers to the amount of RAM for the Device. You have a 2G, and I have a 1G Device. 109k4 ~ 114k4 refer to the available Firmwares.
Unless I miss my guess MK is Rockchip which in turn IS NOT Amlogic so you are outta luck here. If you need better 720p under XBMC, and Android is of no loss to you, you can in turn install OpenELEC. Which will allow you to run XBMC/Kodi in a perfect 720p. At the cost of losing Android, and its Apps. Since OpenELEC is Amlinux, and NOT Android.
