    Android - High Memory Usage?

    Hi Everyone,

My first post here after doing some very helpful reading over the fast few weeks since I bought my MXQ S85 box, which I upgraded to from a Pi B+.
The MXQ has 1gb of RAM whereas the Pi has 512mb but when looking at free memory under system info in Kodi the difference between the two doesn't isn;t much at all.
After killing the background apps the best I've been able to achieve on the MXQ is 310mb but the Pi shows 250ish. I want to free up as much RAM as possible and give myself as much as possible for the video cache.

So my question is this, should I be looking to do more housekeeping in android to free up the RAM or should I look at loading the OpenELEC port by Kszaq/Codesnake instead?

    Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the reply JustMe, I'll definitely look more into caching to the SD. My question and curiosity is more about the RAM usage, should I be concerned that I have so little free memory from 1gb on the hardware? Or is that kind of usage normal from android hardware?

If your not partial to any Android appz A Linux/Kodi solution like OpenELEC is probably the better of the 2 as Linux is problaby easier to strip down and tweak then Android is... I cant speak for OpenELEC but Lniux is extremely effienct and adaptable
