    Missing recovery.img in archive

Hey, thanks for making these firmwares. I really appreciate your work.

I have a problem with the provided archive, though. Its missing the recovery.img file in the RileyROM directory.

On another note, do you have a link to the original firmware for this tablet? The link from the manufacturer site doesn't work.

      Oops, my bad.

I meant to put the CWM Recovery.img for that tablet in the kit.

      Here is the link:

      Recovery

Just unzip the archive and put the recovery.img in the ROM folder and flash.

As I recall, I received that firmware through a "back door" source, that I can't quite trace back to right now. I have it saved somewhere as a backup, but I'm not sure where it is right now. I hope the CWM works for you.

My experience is that on first boot, you may get errors on can't access cache...in CWM, just clear the cache...it reformats it.

Then, on first boot to system, you may get a damaged media error, just press on that notification and format your internal SD. You should be good after that.

If everything works in Fun's CWM for this tablet...you shouldn't have to do those things.

OK, I found the link that works to the official firmware for this tablet. You need the RKBatchtool to install it.

I would use a downloader app like Orbit to download it. Otherwise, you may have to try several times to get it. I'm downloading it now and I can mirror it on our FTP server if you need it.

Once I get it, I can extract the stock recovery.img for you.

Please let me know how this works, If we need to tweak it, we can.

Sorry for the mixup, and thanks for testing for me.

Hey cool, thanks for the fast reply. The CWM works and is booting. But even after clearing the cache and clearing all the user data a.s.o., when I boot into the system I just get a black screen. There is no need to flash the loader, right? Just because its unchecked in your config file for the flash ROM tool.

Correct, the loader is just there in case you do a hard brick and have to totally start over by doing the pin touches on the NAND chip. I guess it is just tradition that we include it in the ROM kit. So leave it unchecked.

I'm not sure what's causing the blank screen on boot. I'll have to look into that. It has been a while since I did that particular ROM and I've changed my technique a little, maybe I can do an update.

I downloaded the stock ROM again and created a whole new ROM. I'm uploading it right now.

This ROM has all of the usual:

              Root
              Debloat
              Ext4 file system
              init.d support
              Google Play Store Fixes
              Tattman65 graphics
2,4,6 or 8 gig user app space

Hopefully this one will work for you. I have learned so much since I first posted this ROM.

I'll post the link as soon as the upload finishes.

By the way...this one has the stock recovery. If you wish to use CWM, you can use it in place of the stock recovery.

Thanks. Stock recovery is booting. Unfortunately the system is still not. Before I flashed the firmware for the RK3066, I accidentally used the RK3188 firmware as I didn't know at the time that there are two versions of the tablet.

In the link for the manufacturer firmware It asks me to download thunder (downloadmanager?), but won't actually start a download of the firmware.

I use a program called Orbit. Thunder is the same basic thing, it is just all in Chinese...so you have no idea what kind of crap they put on your PC. Orbit is a free app at download.com (just don't let it install a bunch of crap with it as you are installing...you have choices during the install...just do a custom installation and uncheck all of the browser tools it wants to install as default...and don't let it make their site your home page). On the text of the file name (looks like a typewriter font) right click and select copy link address. Then bring up Orbit and under the file menu, select Enter New URL to Download. Since you already copied the link into the clipboard it's already there, just click download.

You can watch the progress. It is much more reliable than using the browser downloader...this is what I use to download all firmware from China. If connection is lost...most of the time it will resume the download.

                        Same result (blank screen)

I tried to upgrade to 1.1 my N90FHD RK3066 and I have the very same result.
                        - Erase NAND - OK
                        - Flash ROM - OK
                        - The tablet restarts automatically, writes a few lines (Formatting this and that), and after that
                        comes the blank screen
I cannot start it. The only thing I can do with it is to start upgrade again

Before the 1.1 I tried the 1.0 (resulted in blank scree as well), but I haven't tried any other firmware.
                        What do you suggest?

                        thanks
                        Doki

Thanks for the tip. That worked for downloading the firmware. I was able to flash the original firmware, which is working. After that I tried your 1.1 version again, but still no luck (black screen after the recovery has finished). Any ideas?

Which parameter file were you using? If you were trying the default, try using the 4gb or 6gb file and see if that makes a difference (there might be a typo in the parameter file).

Using a text editor, like notepad, open the parameter file and change last number (user) to 69A100.

Try to flash and see if that helps.
