20150523 Beta for Draco AW80 (Android 4.4)

Hmmm, Eric (geekbuying) doesn't seems to be any longer active here at freaktab at this sub-forum, but Tronsmart released a new Beta based on the new SDK 3.0 some days ago...

Dear AW80 users,

We should say sorry for waiting so long time for new firmware.

Our previous official version 20141215 is based on allwinner’s SDK 2.0 and we got some complains, so our engineers want to tweaks it again and release beta 20150318. At the end of May, We collected feedbacks about 20150318 version from our forum and communicate with allwinner’s engineers about SDK3.0. For Allwinner’s schedule, they should collect feedback from other manufactory, so the SDK 3.0 cost much time.

In the joint efforts of allwinner and tronsmart engineers, SDK3.0 is finally worked out in two weeks ago. Tronsmart’s engineers tweaks it and released the new beta version: 20150523.

Approved change logs by our engineers(The complete change log will be update within next week):

*optimized 4K video streaming on XBMC/TVD player
*optimized the power supply for USB3.0
*pass through works smooth on Dolby/DTS

I'm using it on the rkm mk80.
The infrared port does not work with this rom on my box.
Can anybody please confirm that it works on the draco?

1) Excellent, You are back at the level of the original firmware ( more than 1 year after ).
2) File transfer is a little better.

No good :

1) the video stuttering, always in kodi
2) web browsing, less fluid than the original firmware

For me, the video 4K, is ridiculous, for the moment.
Why, improve 4K video, ...
The video in 1080P, is always stuttering.

WTF not even YouTube works. Just a spinning wheel when trying to play something. The same goes for the YouTube Kids app. So the internal player does not work? Can someone else confirm?

Change this in build.prop:

Then reboot

Awesome that worked. I'm liking this beta actually. Pretty good performance and smoother video playback so far

Hi guys,

1/ vertical smear is fixed!!
2/ standby mode is fixed!! (recovers from standby as it should)
3/ playback is acceptably smooth to me, occasional jerks I put down to streaming.

BUT
1/ USB audio massive crack and pops when in standby and when booting or shutting down the box
2/ Need to hack your system to make YouTube work
3/ Google Remote app not working with this ROM
4/ Video on BBC iPlayer is completely out of sync with audio (about 2 seconds)
5/ playback on YouTube, iPlayer etc do not seem to be HD.

HI, guys, we are still pushing allwinner to update this DRACO AW80, never forget or stop doing this. in my last talk with allwinner engineer, i have showed them how the amlogic soc handle the koid and video playback, and from the last update, you can see, they are already update to sdk3.0 to improve the video playback. the draco aw80 is not a cheap device, we will push both allwinner and tronsmart to release update, and fix the problems you guys report.

thanks, man. sorry for leaving the forum for a little while. I have to spent some time to visit different factory in china, and arrange the product in the rest time of 2015. Now i have been verly clearly about what we should do in the rest times, and the new toys will come soon. in the next times, you guys will see different new toys. and i will put much more time to stay on the forum, hear your voice, and be a "strong bridge" between you guys and the factory.
