Chinese Manufactures Take NOTE,
To All the Chinese Manufactures Take note Nvidia released a box that not only is fast but pass through and everything else works out of the box.... what a concept it does as advertised and is well priced flawless video no skips or blur lines. Take note maybe we all just start getting better product releases and updates. Seems like a good thing for all. Allwinner shame on you for the poor releases on all your devices you helped me make the choice to go to Nvidia Thank you 😆Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

Disagree with that comment compare apples to apples not apple to a grape. The latest boxes run 140. To 160 with shipping duty costs.. so for a 40 50 dollars extra you get a box that works out of the box unlike the box you mentioned that took 6 months for the developers to fix not the Manufactures. Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

There will always be a smaller market of people that like to play and dabble and don't want to spend more then they have to ... which is to a large part the current state of the scene... but for the real mainstream to make the jump they want something that actually works and usually when it comes to the that money isn't as big of a issue and company's like Apple have been proving that for years with their high costs of products...
here where I am in Canada that's the biggest complaint I hear from perspective users is that are AFRAID to make the jump to streaming boxes based on hearing complaints of others buying Android boxes from some box flipper based on promises of free tv that never live up to what the flippers told them it would do... My bet is that if someone were to ever actually release something that worked properly out of the box the word will spread and the mainstream public consisting of non-dabbling users will start to make the move... when it comes to supposed free tv here in Canada people will pay no matter what the cost is and as a original satellite hacker I watched that exact thing happen years ago and this isn't all that much different... it really is a shame that the Chinese makers are just to greedy to pay to have proper software created because I agree they will miss the boat when someone does and then they will be once again reduced to copying what works hoping to pilfer the software they need...
my 2 cents...

This is why Chinese manufactures are now producing low cost windows PCs. The android market is being over taken by US companies who provide much better hardware / software at nearly identical prices. I double we will see any chinese box that competes with the shield console for at least another 2-3 generations.

Hardware wise its second to none - not a single box ever made even comes close (Look up tegra x1 specs they are crazy). Software wise its the best Android TV experience there is so far but I still like full versions of Android better. luckily looks like there is also a lot of interest in this device from the dev community over @ xda so I would expect full roms coming sometime in the future

for its price range it looks like something worth investing the time in development wise... I just placed a order for one and cant wait to get my hands on it and see if we can implement Linux on it.... maybe this will help put a end to the Chinese makers dominance of cheap basically unsupported boxes... ive no interest in Android but Linux on something like this will definitely help open new doors and hopefully other developers will take a look as well and help put the market back into the hands of more responsible manufacturers that actually care about following thru with software support for what they produce and sell...
I'd imagine it may take awhile for the developers to start looking and in the meantime the Chinese makers will continue to prosper off people but if a decent development community springs up im sure it will only be a matter of time before the Chinese makers will be forced to retool and try and clone these units and go back to pilfering the publics software but at least a company the size of Nvidea has the resources to go after unlicenced clone makers which is something in the current market that's totally out of control as public keeps getting burnt buying clone boxes with next to no options software wise other then depending on sites like this where theres some extremely smart and helpful people releasing proper software...

Hi,
We are sorry that you were unhappy with your experience9. We currently support hardware decode of VP9, H.264, and H.265. We will expose our MPEG-2 hardware engine to Android TV apps in an update this month. It will be up to app developers to design apps to take advantage of our MPEG-2 acceleration.
We will also be adding pass-through support for Dolby HD and DTS HD MA audio codecs in a future update. We also appreciate your feature request for 23.976 playback support and are considering adding support for it. We do provide frequent Software Upgrades on SHIELD products so you can expect features and functionality to expand over the upcoming months.

I really feel bad them, is not totally their fault,we know they produce cheap devices and 75% working and we are expecting for some community or an android developeer to make work at least to 95%.
The problems: software engineering, wise hardware, OS restrictions, market on demand and the really bad one partnership with the GPU companies in this case imagination technologies and ARM Mali GPU, that is the different from Nividia and Qualcomm.
So right now Nvidia has the best SOC so far in the market, and Chinese OEM making low cost devices with low cost SOC,I don't really know what they are doing or treat to do,maybe is their new trend,I don't get it. OK 200$ for 65$ maybe that make sense for some peoples, so you know what are you getting.
For me as android enthusiast maybe I will get one of those devices in the feature as a second device if is something happen to my main device.I think this is the goal for the Chinese makers, second hand devices.
