after reading many posts and threads I come to the conclusion that I need some help from the experienced people here.
I bought a RK3188 box (with android 4.2.2) that is causing some trouble. One thing is that the lan port is not working (wifi is ok) the other thing is that the installation of apps takes hours. And I mean really several hours. Factory reset is not working, neither through in the settings option nor the holding the reset button method.
I wanted to flash an other/custom firmware to get rid of the problems as I discovered that it's not that easy because of the different versions of that box. I've opened the box and identified it as RK3188_BOX_SZY_X6 V1_0 131024-Mediatek in the "PCB Version/revisions cs918 and T-r42" thread.
There is one alternative firmware available but this version seems to be not really popular. I wanted to try an alternative firmware but make a backup of the current firmware first. I've used CWM recovery with my smart phone before so I thought that should also work on that tv box and make me more relax when flashing another firmware.
I've read the tread above and got some doubts because of people asking for a compatible version for their specific device.
1) Would the K-R32 CMW recovery work for my box? -> K-R42: http://www.freak-tab.de/leolas/cwm/k...covery.img.zip
2) I've also read the thread about the wasser firmware that is supports the new and the old K-R42 version (version 1.0.3). It seems to me like a popular version for that kind of boxes. But will this firmware be compatible with my tv box (Mediatek version)? Or is there an other compatible and recommended firmware available?
3) If there is something to notice flashing from my current android 4.2.2 version to an other your advice is welcome.
Cheers!
