Bricked MX (CS838) box due wrong firmware update

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for help with un-bricking a MX (CS838). These devices are clones of the G-Box MX2 box.

I was in the process of flashing my MXQ box (S805 based) with OpenELEC but obviously not paying attention flashed the MX box with that firmware. Now the box wont even get to recovery so I can't flash the correct image into the box. The box seems to be in a boot loop but doesn't show me any video output in the screen.

The only indication of life in the box the blue light in the front and when I plug the Ethernet cable those lights in the jack flash about 4 times before shutting down (this process repeats itself about 4 times before shutting down completely for about 15 seconds). The remote controller still turns the box on/off

I have some experience hooking UART to devices but not sure where to hook up on this box.

    Thanks in advance....

Hey I had the same problem so I used the Tooth pick reset method and uploaded from the SD card:MX2-full-1.1.6-firmware-RC.zip
This is a Rooted version and then I installed Kodi 15.1 and it works flawlessly now!
I had to hold the reset while I plugged in the Power for a good Minute until the Android update came up!
    Hope this helps!!!

Kezz, Thanks for the reply. I ended up returning the box and getting another one. My problem was that not even holding up the reset button put the box in recovery. It was stuck in a boot loop. Thanks for your help though.
