Got my nVidia Shield Console. I am sooooooo satisfied - the thing is BOSS.
Gaming, Plex, Netflix, Kodi - all seamless - even my sony TV remote works for this thing.
Gaming is unreal.
Everything is fast and smooth.
Firmware that works - and updates that don't change your preferences!
Local listening on the controller.


Buy one.
You will thank me.

I bought the OUYA with the intention of using as an XBMC box with gaming as a backup. I found the gaming to be pretty lacking and the XBMC playback to be marginal (and the video way too dark).

I hear it's a bit better now, but there are still barriers to support. I don't want to use the OUYA or PS3 controller to operate the media player and it wouldn't work with my airmouse or FireTV Bluetooth remote. Further, I like having a device that I can use with a hard power switch because I keep all of the gear (router, media player, receiver, sub) on a single powerstrip and I like being able to hit one switch to start everything.

My fear is that the Shield Console will be too similar to the OUYA, but end up costing me twice as much to learn the same lesson.

Give me a $40 box that does 1080P H.264 & H.265, supports multiple frame rates up to 60hz, and has direct audio 5.1/7.1/etc and that has a Bluetooth remote. That would be perfect.
