Issue flashing ROM - bricked R28

I decided to try and install one of the new LP images on my R28 Meta to have a tinker and after a boot, recovery stopped with errors about metadata.

No big deal as with any trial and I decided to go back to KK.

However, when I attempted to flash my usual ROM, as the process started it said Download Boot Start, followed quickly by Download Boot Failed.

    I'm using Android Tool 2.33.

I then switched off and got it into bootloader again and noticed that this time the indicator at the bottom of the tool said Found one MASKROM device, which is not the norm.

Unfortunately, whatever method I try to flash my ROM or erase the IDB, it fails every time.

From memory, I seem to recall seeing something similar a while back, where an older flash tool was used to erase the idb and get back to normal but searching reveals nothing of use.

Can anybody remember what the solution was?

I have run into that multiple times, usually I have to short two pins on my Beelink R89 (Oman's box) to access the Maskrom function. You are using the correct Android tool. Did you go into the advanced function tab and reset the device? That should work.

Yes I tried the reset option but it just sits there doing nothing.

With me already being in maskrom mode, I am hoping that no pin shirtings should be necessary.

      Cheers.

        I resolved it.

Whilst every function of the tool works in Windows 8.1 when all is well, when al is not well, fall back to a Windows 7 machine where I was able to erase IDB and reflash KK ROM.
