MK808 Stuck in Mask Rom Mode

Hi all, my MK808 seems to be stuck in Mask Rom Mode. I have tried nearly everything i have read about, but it just will not move from the Mask Rom Mode. Regards, Robert from Wales.

Can you flash a rom? If yes, make sure it is the right one, there are about 20 versions of the mk808 and all need a different firmware.

When i click on Flash Rom I get Error: Download IDB failed and then Error Run failed. Erase Nand is not a problem, it will do that every time.

And are you sure you try to flash the right firmware?

Maybe not then, could you please point me in the right direction for firmware. It says on the stick, Sain Smart, Duel Core A9 and Mini PC 4.1 which i believe is a version of the MK 808

I think you are right, this unit should be compatible with the original mk808 firmware.
Try to flash this rom: http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php...core-tv-stick/
If it does not work, try the following things:
- a different version of flash tool. Here is the one i use: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w350iskkrx..._v1.6.zip?dl=0 (flash the firmware using the "Restore" button)
- try different USB cables and USB ports on your PC
- try a different PC

The 808 stick is a Sain Smart 4.1, could there be a stock rom still available that might just move it on from the mask rom mode its stuck in.

I had a similar issue recently with my MK808: It turned out that the power supply from the PC USB port is too weak for the flash process. So what I do now is starting the MK808 with the PC USB connection until the flash tool finds it, and then I turn on the additional normal power supply before starting any flash process. This works reliably with my stick and I erased and reflashed several times recently...

BTW, still looking for a good 4.4 ROM for my MK808 (should be 1080p and with fixes for the most common problems like not saving the screen scaling etc...), see here:

I think I would stay with Finless 2.1 for the time being.

I have not yet found a good 4.4 ROM.
