    Cross flashing an r28

Quick question to those that have this box, I am seeing that you can use beelink r89 firmware with this device, so Wassers new Lollipop rom should work.

Can anyone confirm this? As I recently got rid of my R89 due to me absolutely hating the design, but would be good if I can get the support on another box.
    Currently Using:

Yes. These devices share the identical internal design (PCB). Only remote control might not work.
But if you are changing device then mayby you should buy something other than RK3288 SoC. As far as it goes it has rather weak support and many unresolved problems.

Having owned an R89, yep, it has a whole host of problems.

I have ordered a Beelink S812 plus, however I will need it to do Moonlight at 1080p with 60fps. The RK3188 I have with the Mali 400 will only do it at 30fps.

My old RK3288 does do it at 60fps, so we will have wait and see if the Mali 450 with those extra cores can. There was absolutely no way I would buy the hideous looking R89 box again however, the R28 looks like a much smarter and better investment.

Why not buy an RK3288 HPH NT-V6?
They are going to release new boxes around 15 July with real HDMI-IN.
        HDMI Recording, Protection by-pass & Picure-in-picture.
Their boxes are also quite small, square shape with high speed Samsung EMMC & large heatsinks.
Can also use their Android Remote Control software(the best so far for TV Boxes)
        Regular firmware updates.

I don't need the features to justify the extra 30-40% in price. It will also still have all the problems of the rk3288.

Thinking about it, I am more enticed to get an Intel box with Windows/Android than the rk3288 again.

Thanks for the heads-up mo123. I wonder if Ugoos will also release a version with this feature. I have, so far, enjoyed these T-chip products. As with Nagrace, I have also found support from Ugoos to be adequate. I do like some of the Ugoos-specific features, such as the fan and their Linux variants.

              That sounds interesting.

Any more details on spec and price?

Think it will have the same specs as regular HPH NT-V6 and pricing should also be similar.
Don't know how the HDMI app will work, but it will get updates based on users suggestions.
When I get my box, I will be able to give more feedback.

Can the fan be controlled as to when it kicks in? Also, does linuxium SD boot work with these devices?

Yes. The fan can be set to on/off/ auto/set temp. When set to "set temp", the turn on threshold can be set by user, turns off when temp falls 5C. Very nice. The newer UT3S has additional ventilation as well.
Though I have not tried linuxium's SD boot version, the bootable(or installable) version from Ugoos works very well, sans the H/W acceleration(like most). However, Ava from Ugoos gives much credit to linuxium for help in developing the Ugoos SD bootable Ubuntu version.
Anyway, jump over to the Ugoos section for more info.....I fear we are hijacking this thread.
