Is this a sign of lack of power?

I have my MK808b hooked straight to a Seagate 1tb hdd, it worked fine for the first 2 days, but then I got a disk error and now whenever Im downloading a torrent or watching
a movie right off of it through XBMC only, it will disconnect and reconnect the HDD.

Ive checked the stats and it tends to happen around the CPU usage being 100%, I dont think its the harddrive since files are still read off of it fine in MXPlayer. Will plugging both the mk808b and the HDD into a powered usb hub solve this? Its quite frustrating to get booted out of a movie or download

EDIT:And now it just disconnected & reconnected while not in use. This has to be a power situation. GOnna look into a HDD with its own dedicated power

Or you can to feed your tvstick with a dedicated power supply and your usb hub with other one. I think is cheap than buy a new hd.

You're going to need a mains powered USB hub for sure. TV sticks can't (reliably) supply enough power to run an external HDD.

I have this setup and it works great.

I assume it's a 2.5" HDD, as far as i know any external 3.5"HDD will have it's own power supply. (and it's cheaper too )

Of course like mentioned above, a power USB hub will be cheaper.
