MK809IV plus vs. MK808B plus

Hi all,

I've ordered few days ago the MK809IV plus from gearbest (see link)
It has 1GB RAM with Amlogic S805.

After some research I couldn't find any ROM for this stick, and I'm afraid I'll have no support in case something fails.

Which stick is better in your opinion?
I will change the order to MK808B plus, if you'll say so.

I just thought that it has s805 instead if m805 in mk808b+ and also have external antenna which might be important since I've read about many wifi issues with mk808b+

There is no advantage of the s805 over the m805. They are just mounted on the board differently. Also, most of the MK808B+'s WIFI issues are caused by interferences with USB dongles from wireless imput devices and can be fixed by using these dongles with USB extension cables. Maybe the "pull out" antenna of the MK809IV plus brings a little advantage, i don't know. But for me, the non existent rom support for the MK809IV plus is a real no-go. The MK808B plus has Cyanogen Mod 11 and 12, Finless ROM and even OpenELEC.

You convinced me. I've requested gearbest to change the order to MK808B+, hopefully they will prove they have a good customer service.

As for S805 vs M805, according to Amlogic official website, the M805 has no H.265 decoding support, is this true?
S805 does have it.

Good choice with the MK808B+ its a great little Tv stick for the price.

If you use a USB extension cable to connect lets say a wireless mouse or a game pad it will help stop interference using a extension cable.But not all users get this problem anyway it depends on what your using

I can assure you that the m805 has H.265 HW decoding support.

Our M805 can support H.265 Decoding. I believe that is a mistake on our company’s website. Thanks for pointing that out!
Essentially our M805 and our S805 are the same chip, so neither is better than the other. We just use different naming conventions depending on which product will be using our chip.

So, if s805 and m805 are the same, it looks like there's no hardware changes between mk809iv plus and mk808b plus?

There are no obvious differences. But they probably use different RAM, NAND, WIFI/BT chips.

Hi all I have just baught the mk809iv plus s805 soc and im finding support hard to come by and Google searches are intermittent with just a few scatterd threads. I need to get rid of this stock rom it is really bad can anyone point me in the right direction please
