I would also like to know what differences there are between two devices.

both devices have the same WiFi and Bluetooth chip?

    edit:
"Some RK3188 mini PC will use AP6210, others AP6330 like T428. AP6330 can support 5Ghz WiFi frequency, but AP6210 just supports 2.4Ghz. There's about $10 US difference between the two modules. GeekBuying tested the connection with a 5GHz router and it works, however they don't have 802.11ac router yet, so they decided to remove 802.11ac from the listed specs for now"

The t428 have a better wifi module that support also 5ghz

But not only this. With this configuration is more compatible with many firmware.

For example is compatible also with the cube tablet firmware

And for now the t428 have a good 4.1.1 firmware in wich all is very stable

Here, you will find people who either have one or the other, but not both. Therefore, it's really hard to give you an advice. I have mk908 and I would go with T428 just because 4.2 version is already available. WiFi on mk908 works flawlessly, so this is not deciding matter. But, that's me. I need this for playing videos, you may need it for playing games or internet surfing. On your place, I would go through all posts for both TV boxes. It is better to spend an hour or two reading posts then whole day trying to fix something which is out of your hands anyway. Other advice I have for you is to maybe buy different device, maybe cheap Chinese pad with same chips if you can find for $200 which you can leave as a TV box but as well use as a pad, on place of $100 for just a box. Just a thought.

the differences in the real life are the rom. And rockchip don't publish source code. For the U2 the developers can do more.

why don't publish RK the source code?

rk3188 is actually better than 4412.

RK can sell more if source code is published?
