    Yes it can. I have an i826 and since updating to firmware 116k4 the HDMI In app now can record as well as PIP.
    Know it works, saving to the external SD card yet have not heavily tested more than that.

    Happy to share firmware link yet I got it from China Gadget Reviews myself.
