Recommendations for new AMLogic based player?

I'm new here and am trying to figure out which of the many android tv/kodi based media boxes to get and was hoping the patrons here might have some recommendations? I was sort of thinking of finding out which firmware/ROM is the most recommended and then finding a box that supports it? Currently it seems like Beelink is the big name? Is this correct?

You did your homework by choosing Amlogic. I have a Tronsmart Vega S89H and it has has served me well and has several ROMs to choose, including OpenELEC. I decided I to to give an Amlogic S812 a try, so I purchased a MINIX NEO X8-H Plus. Since I have only had it a week, I am keeping it stock, but with the current firmware.
    MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68

Thank you for the recommendation! I'm curious how is the OpenELEC support for the s82? Also, would you say that the default firmware offered by Beelink is good enough? Also i need a US plug and it doesn't look like the S82 at gearbest offers that.

Have you had any issues with OpenELEC on the s89H? The reviews i've seen for the s89 seem to indicate the hardware would fail within a short period of time. Do you have an opinion on this?

I only used OpenELEC a short time on my S89H, because I purchased one of the $35 MK808B Plus sticks to use for OpenELEC. I have had my S89H for about a year and it is working flawlessly.

This video shows my S89H running OpenELEC to act as my DVR/PVR backend and frontend.

I have been happily using a beelink s89 with one of the finless roms.. Started using a nexus player, but no Ethernet port and no h265 made me opt for an s89 plus for my 3rd TV.

Basically, if you plan to use any android apps, get a nexus player. It works pretty well. If all you want is a kodi player, the s89plus might be a bit overkill and the ROM for it isn't great yet. Great potential but you should only get it of it's on sale or something (got mine for 77$usd)

Would the fact that I'd be using this media box in USA change any of your opinions ?
