I have a mini usb 150N dongle running on RTL8188CU(S) chipset. I got the drivers for it too and it works beautifully. Always check what chipset it runs, are the drivers available in the community or not, then buy.
    cheers

edit: here are the drivers for 8188cu fyi.

do you have to do more then then copying&rename it to the modules folder and will it work on mk809 with measy finless 1.7? i followed the instructions on that link but cant seem to get it to take.. it still uses the the built in wifi

i only copied n renamed into modules. then restart. Restart is the key. Else you have to run some commands for "letting your device know" about the new wifi hardware.
Don't know about the 809. I have 808B and it works.

          Hi Rishi,
Which mini usb 150N dongle did you buy? If you have a working driver for it and are using it, maybe I too could buy the same one.
          Thanks

            hi,
i bought this one. It has 8188 chipset.
            My experience:
I connected it to the USB OTG but it didnt work properly. May be loose contact or something.
I put this on the main USB port of the stick and it works flawlessly.
            cheers!
Edit: I have the MK808B btw.

                May i add:
The device heats less once you use the external wifi adapter.
You're simple not using the internal hardware. so lesser heat

I am looking at using the external wifi adapter because my internal wifi hardware stopped working. Nobody seems to know why. I bought and used an external USB to ethernet adapter. It works but is inconvenient as I have to drag a cable across the room. I am looking at wifi alternatives as it gets rid of cables. Do you think it will work using the dongle you pointed me at.

yeah tried that and it seems to still use the hardware wifi, i turn it off and plug in the dongle and start it up, turn on the wifi but the signal is the same.. and when i unplug it it the stick still has a signal.. does the light on ur dongle work?

                          Hi Rishi
I finally got the USB dongle you suggested and used the rtl8192cu.ko. copied it to modules directory renamed the file set permissions and rebooted. Wifi still does not work. I have a mk808B. I tried to run it with Finless 1.7 and 2.1.
                          Any ideas.

i have a rtl8188cu and a mk809ii with finless 1.7b. i tried the driver rtl8192cu posted here and replaced instead of rkwifi.ko but the system still uses the internal wifi. Are there other files to replace? the wlan.ko maybe?

                            thx

editroblem solved. flashing the finless 1.7a the wifi usb works

                              ?? wow. it should work.
Renamed to rkwifi.ko and set permissions?
Does it still use stock hardware or nothing at all?
I had a problem when i used it with the USB-OTG cord.
Try plugging the dongle in the main USB and shift the mouse/keyboard dongle to the OTG.
                              This worked for me.

Alternatively check whether the dongle is a real 8188cu or not by connecting it to a pc.
