M8S S812 5g Wifi issue

Hi guys, I am new to these android devices I used to use Kodi through my laptop till lately someone told me about these android players. I bought the following box from ****.

However, despite saying that it supports 5G wifi its not picking up the 5g band of my ASUS router. Every other device (laptop, phones) seems to work fine though.

The specs of the product have the following in the description which seems fine to me.

WiFi: Support 802.11 a/b/g/n Dual Band Wi-Fi(2.4GHz/5GHz)

Can anyone help me in understanding why this is happening?

Is there a chance that this is a defected piece?

Hi, I would rename one of the bands (maybe M8s trying to connect both 2.4GHz/5GHz when the names are same)

Sherimehmoo Sorry to hear that I have had the similar issue with the same M8S S812 OTT TV Box and Apple AirPort two-band router. The TV Box was connecting 5g band, and after a while connecting to the 2.4G and loosing 5G. After renaming 2.4G, it was solved. It would be great if you find solution and leave a message about that.
