    Best device for general use - MK808B / MK908?

    Hi,
I want to buy an Android TV player soon. I am considering the Tronsmart MK808B or the MK908, or the Minix Neo X5. My main usage will be to watch Netflix, net browser, check email etc.

Does the MK808B perform these functions well? Or is the 1GB RAM insufficient?
MK908 seems to be having some issues - I have a Sony TV - so don't know if it will have audio/video issues. I don't mind putting down the additional $ for the 908 if it is worth it / future proof.

I will probably want to use the stick as it comes - stock Android version, stock ROM etc, unless upgrading (e.g. to 4.2 is easy and has benefits for me).

Given that I see so many experienced people on these forums - what would be your suggestion for my applications?

    Many Thanks!
    - DonQ

Generally not recommend Tronsmart at this time.
    I'm disappointed in 3 pieces.

    1x T428 hot and resets
2x MK908 not audio pamasonics tv

So there are no reliable android sticks which I can use with stock OS for netflix and browsing?

Hi, I have the MK808 and MK908, At this time the MK808 would be the winner as its been out longer more bugs are ironed out, none of the devices are prefect but at half the price of the MK908 and 100% more reliable I would go with that, Im using my MK808 until a time that the MK908 is better.

        Hope that helps.

The T428 with the 4.1.1 firmware is the best android hdmi stick on the market.

          for sure.

On general 4.1.1 rom i don't have resets and overheating, erase edb and reinstall the 4.1.1 generic.

I think you have part of the old rom again.

I must use the external power supply only for antutu, all other functions are wonderful. The wifi is vert very good.

If you want 100 or 200 videos not problem for me.

              And i'm not the seller, i'm only a guy that have 1 mk802 , 1 minix neo g4 , 1 mk808, 1 t428

I change and test rom on this devices from 2 years. Is my hobby

But the T428 doesn't ship with the 4.1.1 ROM rt? The MK908 does ship with it - can I assume that MK908 with stock ROM will be stable, no overheating?

Thanks for your reply. Is the MK808 cpu and RAM enough for daily usage? How is the wifi reception?

The CPU and ram are fine for daily use, check out Epic citadel 3d demo, at the moment the mk808 is much better than the mk908 with the stock rom!

MK808 Wifi has strength issues, mine is right next to the router as I use it for development, but there is a quick workaround to improve the wifi Ive not had to do so dont know how much it improves the signal strength.

                    check out bobs video

I'm running mine with bobs 2.0 rom, at 1080p which is android 4.2.2.

No doubt the Mk908 will be better than the mk808 but its not yet, So if your in no rush you could just wait out for the improvements to the mk908.

My mk808b is solid and fantastic. I has better wifi signal than some of my other sticks and it plays HD video and netflix wonderfully. My mk908 is too new at the moment and has some stuttering video issues that no firmware seems to solve yet. The price difference is also nice. Generally RK3066 sticks are pretty darn snappy and do great with video playback, from my experience.

                      Good luck!!
