Broken Reset Button - Any other method of reboot?

    Hi all,

Long time lurker - first time poster.

So I have been messing around with several M8 boxes for a while now (OTT Square M8). I have a "development" box as I call it, where I test ROMs - new settings and likes.

ANYWAY - I stupidly broke the reset button in the AV port - I've opened the box up and the button has popped clean off. I think I must have been too rough with it. So the question is, is there any way to reboot into recovery manually? Not sure if it is possible via terminal or another process? Would hate for my trusty Dev Box to be ruined. I would like to avoid going down the soldering-it-back-on-route if possible (mainly because I have only attempted soldering once before and it was a disaster!

    Many thanks in advance

Can you post a pic of the damage?

Should be a fairly easy switch to replace or even piggy back a switch with leads.
If it has root cant a reboot app drop you to recovery and load that way?
      Just Ideas

Pics attached! Hope you can make them out ok. Basically the button has two small prongs that fit into the holes and then at each side of the prongs are two metal connectors that seem to have snapped (can these be soldered back on? I'm not sure).

Yes exactly, I was hoping that there would be a reboot app - I have root so shouldn't be a problem. Do you know of any that I can test out?

        Cheers guys

The Best of the Best by a Freaktab user..I believe

As mentioned since it fallen out like it has, a small push switch couple off leads and hang or mount on out side would be ideal for your development box

          Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply Trebor! Will give that a bash this weekend - looks like exactly what I need. If it works well I might keep that as one of my core apps for my base level backup (makes things a hell of a lot easier rather than having to dig out my small screwdrivers whenever I want to reboot. I agree that maybe a switch on the outside would make things a lot easier and quicker for flashing etc. on my dev box. Will have a look into it and will report back!

I always use the reboot app to boot into boot loader mode its never failed me yet but you can only use it on a rooted device though

+1 It is one of the good ones to use.
Standard install in my collection of must have.
                Cheers
