A Better Netflix Android TV box experience?

I have a Tronfy MXIV media player and have the Netflix app. The problem is the Netflix interface is geared towards touch screen devices. It seems to have some issues navigating when using the basic IR remote that came with my box. You cannot just use the arrow keys on the remote to browse around. Sometimes it highlights the selected item, sometimes it doesn't. It's kind of a crap shoot. I got a Probox Remote + air remote which is almost necessary for controlling the on-screen cursor to properly select specific items. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it's pretty ridiculous. Anyone know how to make the Netflix app work like it does on a regular Samsung/LG/Whatever Smart TV with just the arrow keys?

Sorry I don't have any great suggestions but I found using a full mouse is slightly easier, I agree it's a complete pain to navigate.
