Suggest me an Android TV Box

    Hi Guys,

I'm looking for Android TV Box as gift for my dad. Basically what his requirement would be like:

    1. Mostly watching Youtube and should play videos upto 1080p/h.264 smoothly with subtitles. No as such requirement for h.265 or 4k
    2. Light Gaming (like angry birds, no 3d games, etc)
    3. Should be stable out of box (though I can upgrade the firmware, but would prefer if its stable out of box). If its pre-rooted, its better. This is most important, as they are not tech savvy and I'm not around always..
    4. Good WiFi connection
    5. Ethernet connection (only till 100mbps, no gigabit requirement)
    6. Support for external speaker (if possible?)

Does Beelink X2 a good fit for above requirements ? or should i go for more expensive boxes like Tronsmart MXIII / Plus, etc ? I looking to keep the budget to less than < $60

    Regards

^^Yes, I noticed that. However, I noticed no manufacturer is mentioned. Is it safe to buy or should i stick to little more known ones like tronsmart, beelink, etc?

I see you have reviewed Beelink X2 as well. In your opinion, will beelink serve my process. Also I forgot to mention that my TV's 720p only, so I also need the player to open 1080p files, it may output@720p only, its fine. Only thing is video playback should be smooth (preferably via MX player) and youtube HD. Will it do it?

....youtube HD. Will it do it?[/QUOTE]
OGYoutube app will get you 1080P and has many good features. You will have to ask trebor if it works on the G or X2.

You may find you will find the MXIII-plus with 2 GB /8 has a bit more than the H3 1 GB /8

Nexus player is your best bet IMHO.

None of these other suggestions are actually 'Android TV' like the NP is, and if you don't need h265 or ethernet, nothing beats a NexusPlayer.

No ethernet on the Nexus player and reviews were not that favourable either.

MXIII - G S812 would be my value choice and from reviews I have seen is one of the few boxes that plays pretty much every format well.

                      Just ordered one myself.

R-TV BOX S10, Beebox N3150, Chuwi Hibox, Nvidia Shield, A95X Max

Believe what you want .. I have a Nexus Player, Tronsmart s82, and beelink s82plus.. I am happy with all three and each has its own advantages but the nexus player is great for Kids + Casual use.

I had good experience with an RK1388 box I still have lying around, just one of those generic ones that say Android across the top. It still works fine for everything you mentioned, except for Youtube HD - I'm also looking for that!

Thanks for the tip Trebor, unfortunately downloading just keeps loading and loading, never starting, but I live in a communist country and my VPN is t too tired.
