Get a USB wifi adapter with an antenna.
That thing has very short range, as it has no antenna.
It's always better to upgrade your router than to plugging in USB wifi adapters that have very short range.

It is very unlikely that the adapter will work out of the box.

Router extender.. to your current setup
Or
Powerline adapters
Or
Wireless to LAN bridge
