Octa Core Processors Bring Little Over Quad Core Processors in Mobile Devices: CNXSoft

From CNXSoft, Interesting read about CPU cores on Mobile Devices

      Hmm..
on a phone its : battery life vs performance.. I prefer batt life
On a tvbox its performance we look at.. (Dont we?)

But i agree.. Octa-core is not doing well
-the rk3288..kicks any/many of my devices when it comes to performance.. Boottime\browsing..

      Missleading vendors\resellers
      cpu freq : upto 2ghz
-not stating : under clocked to a max of 1.6
-not stating : will throttle down to 1.2..if temp xx reached
-not stating : its a box with no airflow or cpu has no heatsink (aka 1.2 will be allways the max for you)
-not stating: the first 4cores can run upto 2ghz..if you Oc and a coolmod...but the other 4cores can only run upto 1.8
Can run all cores simultaneously :sadly not seen this
      Has great Antutu scores
-not stating: we cheated abit (50%)

Its sad..when you benchmark in govenour performance.. And you see, no benchmark using all cores
-if a benchmark can not make use of all cores, then what real life app\game could?

Final thought.. Is 64bit doing a better job?
      Cheers

CNX Soft release Sept. 1st. http://www.cnx-software.com/2015/09/...obile-devices/. I myself disagree with CNX's summary of this chips usefulness. I have read through a lot of the SDK and the extent of programming this chip is really on a much more advanced level than the previous Rockchip or ARM chip releases. The first release of Android 5.1 was a 32Bit system with a 64Bit kernel. Which is part of the hierarchy We have a new system of AArch32 and AArch64 along with a multicore. I think that the usage of the RK3268 will have more usage for the minipc, than the mobile. Looking for the TRM to see what we do have with this chip. I have NO information for programming, SDK offers a large amount of information and a MORE COMPLETE SDK release than I have ever seen (KUDO's) to whom ever put this release together http://www.tronsmart.com/?p=3332 .

Octacore (mali) was a gimmick to get faked (upsampled 720p/1080p content) 4k video on Android mini pc boxes... how much original 4k content do you think is out there-- it's almost all UPSAMPLED.
now we will see octacore cpu's too.
to get high bitrate 1080p & medium bit rate 4k output without choking there needs to be active cooling of the cpu/gpu's..
most mini pc boxes don't offer that & is impractical in tablets & phones. that means they need to figure out how to make better proessors which don't generate as much heat or can distribute the heat properly so it's user doesn't get burned holding the device.
