is it safe to edit build.prop?

Hi,
I' can't use sky online app because that app is not compatible with our minix x7.
This is the only tablets able to use sky online;

what's happened if I edit the build.prop in a way that our device will show up in google play as a TAB 10.1?

In general, it is NOT safe to tweak if there is no backup.img. It happened to me once, only once, I tweaked the DPI at build.prop, and the cellphone bricked.

I agree.. there is a risk..
I Used with success "total commander"

Note
Minix kodi..has a buildin checker.. if you change build.prop, you might find that kodi Minix fails to work

I'd like to install the original sky online app before , but my edited build.prop doesn't work. The device remain unsupported
I used "Hide my root" and I made the build.prop like a samsung GT-N8010 but it doesn't help.

Download the apk. And sideload. Problem solved
