HELP Armlogic S802 hardware repair OTT TV BOX M8

    Hi all,

I purchased a m8 ott tv box from **** and all was good till the wrong power cable was inserted by accident.

The box started to smell of burning with the powerful power adapter. When the correct (original) power adapter was inserted the box no longer powered on.

I contacted the seller for help / advice but unfortunately they weren't bothered to respond to any of my messages. I then decided to have a go at repairing the box.

I couldn't see any fuse/ capacitors when I opened it. I thought this would have been a safety mechanism to prevent the components from getting damaged. I then Desoldered and changed the power jack as I assumed that was preventing the box from receiving power. It still doesn't power but from testing the tracks on the board now receives power.

I've no idea what to do next and couldn't find a thread / post on any hardware repair for this.

I've attached the images of the board.

Can any one help or guide me to the right place?

    Many thanks in advance.

Theres a square block on the right hand side , looks like a chip , its the power converter has about 30 soldering points all the way round, not something you can pick up off the shelf, this is just my take on it , but have has this issue before, the cost and chance of it being repairable are zero, as the solder points are machine soldered and the power part is prob not something you could find, the cost of the m8 is not massive ££ which makes it possibly cheaper to just buy another one, i would just be careful who you buy from on ****. Some sellers on **** look after their customers , and will help you out over a year later, some dont.

If the "Magic Smoke" has been released I would suggest it really is not worth trying to repair.

I'm assuming you mean the chip behind the power jack. Would you have any idea what this would be called?

I don't see sense in throwing it away without attempting a fix, but I don't want to spend a lot of £££ on it either. Granted it's not expensive to replace but I wouldn't mind a little challenge to repair it, if I had any information about it.
