S8 stuck in boot mode. Won't reset.

Polaroid S8. I press the on/off button. It will light up show "Polaroid" for a couple seconds, show "Polaroid" again, go dark and then show "Polaroid" a third time and the little spinning ball underneath. That is where it sticks. I have tried to start it with a variety of reset tricks. I have hit the power button and held the volume up button for 6 seconds, I have held both volume buttons and the power button after the power is on (this just shuts down the tablet) and I have held both volume buttons and the power button. The little ball just keeps spinning.

I had the problem a few weeks ago and eventually it booted, but I am not exactly sure what I did, or if it was it luck. It worked for a few days and then came back with the problem. I think the recent incident was caused by a bad shut down. I pressed the power button and it shut down without showing the screen to verify shut down. It does that sometimes.

I paid a small amount for this tablet, so if it is done, well I move on. But, if I can get the tablet to restart again great. There must be a way.

I know the last response anyone who makes these wants is "OMG I have the same problem!!", but this exact thing happened to my Polaroid AS8. The 4.2.2 firmware provided by Polaroid apparently blocks the user from accessing bootloader mode or mass storage mode via USB, which shortens our list of possible fixes to almost nothing, if anything. The fact that yours same out of the bootloopconce gives me plenty of hope though, if I can get into the tablet again and install a different ROM or give it a factory reset to remove the 4.2.2 firmware, that should at least let you access mass storage/bootloader, and that'll make your life a lot easier.

Until then, I'll keep looking for ways to fix the bootloop, and if I find anything I'll post it here. Godspeed.

I am glad you are optimistic. The bad news is that the tablet has been stuck in the boot loop for a month now and I have real doubts that it will come out no matter how many times I try to restart it. Perhaps there is some secret starting sequence. It will not be long before I try to figure out some way to open the thing up. Better hurry.

Optimistic is a strong word, I prefer stubborn lol. Have you ever sent an email to Polaroid? I sent one to them last night, we'll see if they have any fixes cataloged for this. It definitely seems like bootloops are a common problem with their tablets.

Oh, I've heard a person or two mention that you can force update the tablet using PhoenixSuit. I have used PS but the instructions that the program gives for forced update are pretty unclear, and I haven't gotten it to work yet. Can anyone who's gotten it to work comment on PhoenixSuit's force restart? Thanks.
