I have had a couple of these Android TV boxes, but since the OS is no different than owning a mobile phone it surely can be done,
and I have done it many, many times on my Android phones
firstly, is your device 'rooted' - ie; does it have an app named 'SU' on it as does my new Beelink i68?
checking for 'root' can easily be done - just download a root checker using either the playstore or apps like Aptoide
once one has 'root' managing ones phone/device is normally done by installing a 'recovery' such as CWM (clockworkmod) or TWRP
I have not yet done it on any of my TV boxes, but intend to do so ....
there are many great sites who advise on rooting - one of my favourites is XDA Developers forum
these 2 videos will give you an insight into the procedures:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIBuK_UNGUk - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coaqiDkP3CQ
a word of warning though, the rom/firmware on your device was 'flashed' by the manufacturer, and any OTG upgrades are
but re-flshing and rooting by oneself could end up with you bricking it.
so if all this is new to you, and your device is NOT rooted I would think twice about it
however, if you do have root, installing a recovery would be easy enough, but again take care as they can be device/rom specific
