CSA90 16 GIG New Firmware and XBMC issue

    Evening people

There's a new firmware floating round for the CSA90 and was wondering if anyone whose updated this device can use the RK3368 KODI install that's been discussed in previous posts. When I installed it on the past 2 legit roms for this device and the chipset has been enabled in the video hardware section of KODI, it just bombs when I try and play any movie. I'm now running the latest version om mine and having owned tronsmart/S82 devices previously there does seem to be way less development for the CSA90 and I do like a good old fashioned custom rom.

I'm generally happy with the whole setup and I know I can back KODI up and install myself but just wanted to see if anyone has had any joy with this device.

The firmware is too old, so I'm pretty sure Kodi will still just exit.

Why is this too old? It is dated 21st Sept 2015. The one I am using now is from 17th July 2015 and Kodi doesn't exit.

I thought Kodi was working fine until I finally tried to play something with 5.1 surround sound and tried to enable HDMI passthrough and the audio drops out every few seconds and then comes back. I guess I will either have to try this new firmware or give up trying to get passthrough to work.

Do you have the ROCKWELL hardware acceleration selected in Kodi and your still playing content OK, I have a 2T drive and every movie I select just bombs if using hardware acceleration. Can play 4K no problem using standard movie player so hardware appears fine.

That happens if firmware is older than 30 September and the Kodi patches from Rockchip aren't applied.
The CSA90 will always have older and worse firmware than brand name tv boxes, even if firmware says 28 Oct, new patches are probably also not applied and it's mostly the same old firmware with just a newer build date.
