    root help please

I have searched quite a bit on the internet and cannot find a lot of information on the pmid706 polorid tablet. Which method did you use to root it? I've looked and couldn't find any threads on it, and I've tried the one click method. Also, I stumbled across a all in one polorid root kit on xda, but alas it didn't even recognize my tablet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Currently the Internet is down in my house but as soon as it comes back up I'll upload the files.
I couldn't find anything on this tablet. It would never get recognized by ADB. So I whipped up a little toolkit(originally a script, I use Linux as my main os) that will root it but I ported it over to a bat file for you already and put all the necessary .dll files with it and what not.

      Neat little tablet!

Oh my, had I known this would have been an active thread I would have posted sooner! I've been boggling my mind for days now. Thank you so much! I'm sure this will help a lot of people (err, well hopefully!).

Thank you so much! I'll definitely be messing with it this evening when I get to my computer. . If I have any problems, I'll be sure to ask for help. Did you ever get the Google play to work on it? Is it worth the trouble? I haven't successfully gotten it installed.

              Yes!
              Got the latest version working.
I also changed the PPI to 140.

                google play

How did you go about getting Google play on there? Replace framework? I just keep getting a launch and then an instant crash. No matter what route I try to take. Thank you so much, root went painlessly and quick! Your help is much, much appreciated!

Getting Google Play to work was quite the task.
I honestly don't remember exactly what I did. At first I was only able to get an old version of market to work but somehow I updated it to the latest.
Maybe what I could do is upload my vending apk, framework, one time initializer, and set up wizard I used and see if that works for you?

No, that sounds like a great idea! Thank you! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, its been a long week of trial and error. I wouldn't be so pressed to get GP on here, but I want my swype keyboard so I'm going to try everything I can.

Hey James, I also have a PMID706 that I am trying to root. I tried running your program, but it is hanging up right after it starts. Here is how far it is getting...

                      -Let's begin!
                      -Waiting for your device...
                      * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
                      * daemon started successfully *

And then nothing. It doesn't get past that part, and I am pretty sure my device doesn't get root.

I am thinking that it has to do with the first question the program asks before it starts. "ADB Drivers installed?" My tablet is connecting with my computer (Windows 8, by the way), but when I go to the device manager and find the "PMID706" there is an exclamation mark by it because I don't have a driver.

Where can I find a driver and/or an ADB that will work with it, and do you have any other tips for me that might help?

                      Thanks for the help.

                        adb drivers

This link up here, has the adb drivers that you need, but you will need to manually install them. I hope this helps a little. Its not for the pmid706 but it worked well with his script to root my pmid706.

                        Cheers!

First question is: Which version of Windows 8? If RT you're screwed because that uses the ARM processor and can't sideload x86 applications, which in the case of your tablet, is needed (the live suite program specifically). If it ISN'T RT, then you're still gonna have lots of fun trying to sideload.

Once (or if) you succeed, you'll then need to get/run the drivers. I use these from this link for all my Polaroids-should work for yours too

                          Here's one guide:

Thanks for the help winemermaid and electrik.

I have the the basic 64 bit version of windows 8 that came with my desktop pc. I have a program on it that makes it start up in desktop mode with the familiar start menu, so it works almost the same as windows 7. You were right though, electrik, I did have problems installing the driver. I tried yours and wienermaid's, and some others, and each time it told me it wasn't an official signed driver, so it wouldn't install it. Then somehow I stumbled into an option to pick from some other android drivers that windows already had. I randomly picked the one from Samsung. It installed and I tried xxjamesxxc's script again, and this time it worked. I have root now!

                            Thanks for the help, everyone.

nice! and a good note. I read somewhere about the similarities between some of the Polaroid tabs and (one??) samsung model. apparently the drivers are close enough to where it'll woek w/the Polaroid. you should post which specific driver worked for future generations, lol
