I had the 2015 Fire TV and no way to get Play store to work, limited to Amazon store or sideloading apps. I bought a Leelbox M8S on amazon.com for 51.99, choose free shipping and got it in five days. Kodi was 14.2 so removed it and installed 16.0 Jarvis alpha, added http://www.tvaddons.ag/fusion-installer-kodi/ and 1080p plays without buffering. Epic Citadel benchmark is 46.7 fps, Antutu benchmark of 29512 so plays games fine, support for xbox and ps4 controllers also. Downside is weak wifi and no optical audio out but for me it's good enough.
