There are two different ways to install CWM. By flashing and through recovery...But since you already need to flash your kernel.img, I would use the flash tool provided with this ROM.

You might want to rename the stock recovery and kernel files to something else first.

Open the CWM zip file and extract recovery.img and copy it to the RileyROM folder within the ROM kit.

Do the same with your custom kernel.

Now, run the flash tool and uncheck all of the boxes except kernel and recovery and flash the ROM without erasing IDB.

It should boot into CWM Recovery.

My experience is that the first boot into CWM, you need to wipe the cache partition and then reboot system. On the first boot into the system, you will need to format your internal SD space. (Just press the "Damaged Storage" notification and it will prompt you to format it.

Download the Petrus Reboot app from here. It will allow you to reboot into recovery whenever you want to use CWM.

I'm glad you had a good result. There is an update to the Reboot app v0.9.3. You might install it and see if it works for you. I think I put the 0.9.1 version in that ROM.
