    NEO X5 latest firmware (20130520, version 011) = 5.1 channel HDMI PCM multi-channel audio

Curious why i cant find anything about it in this forum. I dont have a Minix but came across this post and i'm very curious if the 5.1 channel HDMI PCM audio works. If it does i guess not all hope is lost for all the other RK3066 sticks.

    MINIX NEO X5 20130516 (version 011) firmware
    Release Date: 2013-05-20

3.) Applied new set of FFMPEG library

    4.) Added AC3 audio passthrough by S/PDIF

5.) Added 5.1 channel HDMI PCM multi-channel audio (NOT HDMI passthrough)

    6.) Updated libstagefright library

7.) Native Google apps. added back (Calender, Maps...etc)

8.) Support the new Gen.2 RKremote controller app. for Android devices (It works ONLY with this version of firmware and those after)

9.) Added RKGameControlSetting for game touch profile setup

    10.) Dark background theme applied
    Can somebody test and confirm?

I made a little port to mk808b(rk903) but I dont have possibilities to check 5.1. It appears in settings but I really doubt it will work in other rk3066 devices. What is your device?
REMEMBER, YOUR FEEDBACK IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.

This was posted below in another thread when they had a beta ROM.
If your expecting 5.1 pass through it is not that. It is suppose to support 5.1 audio decoding with output through the fiber optic port (not the HDMI port). That's it.

I thought in the beta there was just the AC3 pass through? But to be honest i didn't really look into it since i dont have a Minix device. I just realize the X5 has an optical audio out, however it clearly states it's HDMI PCM multi-channel audio, so this is incorrect? Does the X5 have a seperate audio chip or something? Because i would think if it's the same audio chip it would be just as easy to use the HDMI port for the multichannel audio if you can also send the same digital signal through the optical port. Unless of course it's an HDMI controller/driver problem?

I think this is true. See the post #5 on the forum Minix:

But PCM would not be pass through. That's decoded audio.
