It uses a different partition layout so flashing images from other M8S tv boxes will brick it. It would be nice if Leelbox would release firmware and provide updates. Wifi is weak, 12.38 Mbps upload 19.98 download so had to use ethernet. Antutu benchmark of 29512, Epic Citadel benchmark of 46.7 fps, average for Amlogic s812. Kodi didn't update repositories so installed Jarvis 16.0 alpha, now streams 1080p without buffering. 4K video audio gets out of sync, no idea how to fix that. Those are the only issues that I have found so far, great device for the low price.

I see a lot a bricked threads for this unit, I've had devices in the past that changed part tables mid-stream (when updating from 3.2 to 4x android) and never had an issue moving between them guess I need to be aware here thanks. So is this out on a ledge or are their 3rd party roms (cyanogen?) for this? Also do you know if this can use something like linuxium to boot linux from the sd card?

From what I've read it's more of a hardware change, MTD vs eMMC controller chips. Our box uses the newer eMMC but still would not flash a boot.img and bootloader from a different box, system would be ok to flash but our build date is 20150827 and all of them are sdk=19 MBX/n200/n200:4.4.2/KOT49H.

linuxium makes builds for rockchip and x86 devices, haven't found any linux builds for amlogic except OpenElec which only runs Kodi. ChristianTroy makes cyanogen for WeTek Play, still waiting for one for WeTek Core which has similar hardware to the s812, could be possible to port our box.
