I have managed to run Ubuntu 14.04 headless arm64 Linux on the K1Plus box that runs off the memory card. I’ve produced a memory card image with some instructions. that you can find here:

Note: it's a headless linux image, so no fancy stuff for now. It's a proof of concept how to boot linux on K1 Plus (and maybe other S905 boxes) off a memory card without affecting Android on nand flash.

Important: requires opening the box (to access serial port) so you loose your box warranty!

Amlogic didn't release Linux SDK yet, so no 64bit Mali libs, drm support in kernel.... so no

            Edit: I assume

I managed ubuntu 14.04 (odroid c1 rootfs ) (ubuntu armf core. Mate core etc. ) for minix x8hp ( s812). It works everything but only ssh connections with terminal ubuntu. No hdmi video desktop output. Maybe add initramfs/init depmod for mali.ko I know need to add mali 450 drivers. I try to prepare method script for ubuntu vivid debian etc. And all the same
( wifi ok ethernet ok update ok)

You can try, but keep in mind that your kernel is 64bit and you need 64bit mali 450 x11 libs... Which are nowhere to be found yet. Unless you have ARM Mali DDK so you can build libs by yourself

Stane1983 I dont used olin rootfs or 64 bit armfh.
I use 32 bit kernel and rootfs. Only I want to know what hi did. We know that all the same (initramfs of ubuntu of amlogic) my device is minix x8hplus s812.
I ported lakka, openpctv and buildroot amlogic etc. I want linux distro on my minix. If I find stb proc fs driver of amlogic kernel for enigma2. may be port enigma2 on my box

That's true, 10-bit is great. It totally removes color banding, which is really a pain especially in darker scenes. And nearly every x265 rip is 10-bit nowadays. Openelec would be awesome for the S905!

but one this version of OpenELEC must install or works directly
the SD card? The version for S805 (K1 dbs2) works without installing on
BOXTV. If you can operate directly, the task has Win32DiskImager? My Box TV is MQX plus (p200 version).
If you have any other info would be very happy to meet you.
                          Thank you.

                            @stane1983

are those not in gpu-2015-12-15-5f1e4e918c ?

                            I see this:
                            Code:
                            gpu-2015-12-15-5f1e4e918c/egl/x11/drm_module/mali_drm/
                            gpu-2015-12-15-5f1e4e918c/mali/linux/
                            gpu-2015-12-15-5f1e4e918c/t83x/kernel/drivers/gpu
Also, one could compile for 32 bits and use that. Would a S805 rootfs work on that case?

Also, Hardkernel has released Ubuntu images for ODROID-C2, which is also S905, but kernel is not in Android format.

Also, here is a fw_printenv/fw_setenv statically compiled that runs on Android (for gxb s200, MXQ Pro in my case).
It runs on Android, just push to /data and run it from here.
