    MINIX NEO U1 specifications:

    SoC – Amlogic S905 quad core ARM Cortex-A53 @ up to 2.0GHz with penta-core Mali-450MP GPU @ 750 MHz
    System Memory – 2GB DDR3
Storage – 16GB eMMC 5.0 flash + micro SD card slot
Video Output – HDMI 2.0 up to 4K @ 60 Hz with HDMI CEC support
Audio – HDMI, optical S/PDIF, and 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks
    Connectivity – Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi (2×2 MIMO) and Bluetooth 4.1
USB – 3x USB 2.0 host ports, 1x micro USB OTG port
Misc – Power button, IR receiver, Kensington lock ready
    Power Supply – 5V/3A

I am told that the main advantages/strengths of NEO U1 over NEO X8-H Plus are:
    • 4K @ 60fps, compared to NEO X8-H Plus’s 4K @ 30fps
    • Support for up to 10-bit colour format, compared to support up to 8-bit colour format
    • Inclusion of HDMI 2.0, compared to HDMI 1.4
    • Inclusion of 2 x 2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi (meaning both internal and external antenna), compared to standard 802.11ac Wi-Fi
    • Android Lollipop 5.1.1 OS, compared to Android KitKat 4.4.2 OS
    • Bluetooth 4.1, compared to Bluetooth 4.0
Be interesting to see if it can live up to the claim
    Cheers..

OK, I see 2nd version of S905, the S905-H. Anyone know which one is in this Minix box? I'm guessing based on the price, it would have to have the "H", but who knows?

            Minix Neo U1

Thanks to Geekbuying for pushing it thru so I could get it quick and DHL
Now that most of the localised festive season has settled for a few days, and the world puts the bubbly away for a bit of ageing if there is any left..

My Minix Neo U1 has just arrived, out the box no time for photos now, on the desk plugged in, set up all Done, to easy, everything just works.
Excellent does at it should and with the Quality Build you can expect always from MINIX.

            Ok that's it....
For now, after a bit more of a fiddle, down to the business end of this review, most has been said around the traps one more is always good.
            More to Come
            Cheers

I saw where Geekbuying is offering a limited time deal on this box with the Mars G01 for $129.

More testing and fiddling with the Minix Neo U1 Medai Hub, updated to firmware .W004 at the present with a few minor bug fixes etc.
Still a few quirky things with Ui and mouse pointer and other bits but all in good time.
As mentioned like all Minix products well built and a good solid performer.

Most Brands of these new S905 Media Players are using HDMI 2 so there is just a chance if you TV is a little dated(OLD) you may have some Video Display issues, with Blanking Out or just a coloured screen. Some may work, others may have issues. (Sounds like a good excuse to by a new TV) ...

Nice kit. If I have said it once, I have said it 11 times, love the gargantuan coolers employed by Minix. Be interesting to see the temps after a workout.

Not sure if I should wait for the S912. Can the U1 really run well on my 4k 8bit 60hz TV? I've been burnt so many times by these boxes.

An unusual antenna fitment. Is that indirect? Some kind of proximity deal.
