MK918- no HD

After a disaster and a factory re-set, my Kit-Kat 4.4.2 based MK918 is not playing HD movies, only SD!
Before the disaster, had no problem with playing HD, on Isengard 15.2
Do I need to download an update ?
Android settings are set to 1280 x 720-60.
Insengard (Kodi) has no resolution settings ( at least I cannot see any )
Any suggestions please ?

make sure, your mk918 motherboard looks the same as those (PCB) pictures at seen above/link
prior to flashing a new firmware

Thanks again for intervening.
Problem solved by updating an addon on Isengard. .

Now this MK918 is performing as it should.
Comparing Kodi ........
The MK918 is the best alround with Kit-Kat 4.4.2 (Nepumuk)
The Raspberry PI 2B with Rasbian, has excellent video defenition, but, slow in operation. Have to experiment more, when and if, it comes back from replacement or repairs.
The Orange pi plus, with Android 4.4.2 H3 (dolphin) is fast , but, unable to change the video resolution on the OS settings, and not much online support.
