Did you try to connect the usb mouse? Is moving betwen menu possible but clicking useless for you too?

With the recovery: no more usb driver intall problem... we have to make it works!

Did you tried to switch off encryption from your router to see if the wifi works better?
I tried with a usb keyboard, all that works for me is the ctrl+alt+del+enter combination, which only reboots the device...

I got CWR to work and everything could be selected, but the device would not boot into android os, only to recovery. I flashed the recovery.img with Finless Rom Flash Tool. You can find the RK3188 CWM here: http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/rockchip/rk3188/

No, but I have the same router configuration I had, when 4.1.1 firmware was installed, but I'll try it anyway.

      Hey guys,

I was wondering if you generally suggest that I should buy a mk 802-IV?
Or would I be better off getting a mk 802 IIIs?
The quad core cpu of the IV is what makes me want this one but considering the troubles discussed here it might not be worth it?
Or is everything solved using the custom firmware provided by neo?

The price would be approximately the same, so thats not a decision maker.

What are your experiences, respecitvely suggestions?

      Thanks in advance!

the mk802 IIIs today should be roughly half the price of the mk802 IV. If there is no price difference for you, then it makes the decision even harder :P

Mostly, it depends on your use case. For solely video, I'd say an mk802 IIIs is probably better, but then again the roms on the mk802 IV have improved things a lot over the past 6 weeks...

"What would you be doing with the quad core" I think, is the question...

What he said, but also MK802 IIIs cannot play 1080p unless you modify it extensively. If you stick to 720p, I'd recommend just getting the IIIs.

I and many others are pretty sure that rikomagic will release some proper firmware to address the hardware playback functions of the IV device, we just have to wait and see.

              Wifi

I have my MK802-IV for 4 days already, with 4.2.2.
              The wifi performance is horrible.
              download 1.05MBit / upload 6MBit on 12/12 line.

Problem is, i don't wanna downgrade to 4.1.1 because of XMBC, it took me whole day to install all reppo's i wanted.

                Works like a charm now...

Just say a BIG thanks to two great contributors on this site

Neomode for the Firmware (MK802 IV NEOTV CR 1.0 Neomode Custom Rom 4.2.2)

and Strauzo for the Kernel (_3) that completely fixes the video jittering that drove me mad!!!

Everything works on my CosySwan S400 now, I've re-cased it with heatsinks/fans/4amp SMPS (because I already had them lying around)... Droidmote/BT/WiFi/XBMC/Skype... it all works

I can now (at last) dump my HTPC and move on

                Thanks guys

                      my first ever android device

im a total android newbie, so i dont know how compare it to other devices

Mine is arrived with 4.2.2 pre-installed. At first glance wifi signal seem stable, give 4 bars.

And of course it give some annoying

The first "minor" issue: though wifi signal seem stable and web browsing seem fast, i receive many android spams when accessing to ANY kind of site, even wikipedia or youtube! Something about "blabla autentication blabla", with "refuse/back/proceed" options to select..? I dont remember exactly the words, sorry

Second half-lethal issue: i don't know about up/download speed: it prevent downloading apps from Google Play.. imput gmail data/password produce a "server blabla" error response. Accessing gmail from my pc is smooth and issueless. Btw Google Play dont recognize this device.

                      Any hints?
                      ..

And the worst issue is the firmware upgrading! I've deeply followed the "Upgrading/Updating the MK802 IV Firmware [tutorial]" topic of a well-know mk802 forum, but TOTAL FAIL

My problem is the same encountered by "dvdmonster"... his solution was a new (OTG?) cable.. i hope to resolve using the same strategy.
And I guess if a working method throught SD card exist..

Sorry for my half-OT bitching, but for now those are facts that give "not very much" response to "do you like it?" question. This device dont look user-friendly even for android users.

EDIT- i resolved the android spams and gmail access issue, the solution was imposting the right hour, day, and year , now i must only try the new OTG cable for trying update the firmware, but NEOMODE has reported potential problems upgrading mk802IV with 4.2.2 pre-installed..
btw i give a good feedback to this stick , wifi is good and browsing net also, youtube work fine too. I have resolved overheat re-case-ing the toy and cool it with fan.
