Freedompop USB dongle and how to do dhcp on eth0?

Hi there, I am using a MX2 with Finless 2.0 ROM happily on a Motorola lapdock 100.
I also have a Freedompop USB dongle plugged in. It uses RNDIS.
I can see the dongle got signal and eth0 interface is up.
However, I cannot get IP address on eth0. Dhcpcd.conf does not have eth0 in it.
I run "dhcpcd eth0", it times out when getting address. "cat /proc/net/dev" shows that
there are packets received, but all transmit packets are dropped. Any hope to make it work?

RNDIS is extremely picky. Especially if you removed the device from something like windows without notifying the system first. Depending on your device you may have to reset it. Check the manufacturing website for FAQ's.

How to notify the system before removing it from Windows? I can move it from one windows PC to another without problem.

There is a reset hole on the dongle. I poked it and pressed for several seconds, then it brought down my MX2. Have to power cycle. I see posts on this works on rasperry PI. Not sure what's the difference.

Well, tried it on gTablet with Jellybean 4.1 and it works well. Interestingly at the same spot
4 signal LEDs are lighted. On MX2/lapdock-100, only 2 LEDs are lighted. Not sure if it makes difference or not.

I have another MX2. and another lapdock, will flash to ROM1.7 and do a comparison.:-)

Tried ROM 1.7a, 1.7b no luck. Still same thing. It's worse that the lapdock keyboard and touchpad only accept one input every 30sec or so. So it is not usable and I don't even have chance to start terminal and run dhcpcd.

I am fine though. If I want to go out, mostly I'll pick up a tablet, not the lapdock 'netbook'

Microsoft has an article on RNDIS. Maybe there is something in it of use.

Since it works well on gTablet JB 4.1, I'd think there is something else in my set up. Maybe the USB power on lapdock is not good enough. It is reported also working on Rasberry PI.
