Minix NEO X5 vs G-Box Midnight MX2 vs Bluetimes MX5

What is the best Android TV Box for me ?

    Minix NEO X5

    G-Box Midnight MX2

    Bluetimes MX5

I would say the Minix Neo X5... It's got more power under the hood than the G-box midnight and it has more multiple usb ports and an sd card port, which is something the Bluetimes MX5 doesn't have..

For the Record the Minix Neo X5 does not have an amlogic processor it's a rockchip.

With this such costs do not better to take some Quad Core like : Tronsmart MK908 \ Rikomagic MK802 IV ?

Those are two other good options, The quad processor is nice but there are limitations to sticks verses the full unit.. Power, and usb availability to name a few..

you may want to consider waiting a little if you want to go the quad core path with Minnix Neo - there was an announcement recently for a X7 version http://goo.gl/cSuAS

          cheers

Re: Minix NEO X5 vs G-Box Midnight MX2 vs Bluetimes MX5

I have both bluetimes mx5 and imito mx2.

bluetimes have better xbmc native player hw decoding support, but audio and video is about 1 sec off sync, and i can't find a way to adjust the offset.

mx2 with xbmc native player libstagefright build have both audio and video in sync. but video playback is not as smooth as bluetimes.

Bluetimes is able to playback the national geographics discover universe perfectly (video is perfectly smooth with the exception of audio off sync)

mx2 was not able to play the same media without huge frame loss and video stuttering (not watchable)

Your comments about the video/audio sync offset on the Bluetimes got me worried, particularly if you can't correct it. How is that possible?

              Any feedback from manufacturer's support?

If that can't be solved then the Bluetimes has serious shortcomings, but I read a review on a Spanish site that didn't comment about this.

What about playback @ 1080p, via network or direct feed? Can you feed an external DVD player into it?

All these units can play 1080p on xbmc with a few modifications the real issue is audio but you didn't mention that so it may not be a concern...
Video wise the Gbox has an amplayer version of xbmc that works fine... 1080p may be an issue streaming wifi so I recomend an ethernet connection for that...
1080p doesn't stream very well on the wide area network very good no matter what your using and if you have the best ISP possible...

Feeding an external DVD player would require other inputs that none of these devices have.. They are out there but they are not included in this thread...

I would be interested to know what your thoughts are on the audio. I believe all these units have 5.1 Pasthrough.

sounds issue also reported by users on the Spanish forum.

i purchased the mx5 after reading the same Spanish review. Have to say that i am very disappointed with the actual product. its now sitting in the box gathering dust.

The use I am planning for this unit would not demand multichannel audio for now, but it would be better if it gets solved soon.

Streaming would only be by cable, as I'm aware that wifi allows 720p at most.

What surprises me is the apparent limitation, which I did not expect, for external optical players, DVD at least. This unit is supposed to fulfill PC jobs, and as such it should accept such an input. Are you sure the Bluetimes MX5 does not see them?

Which ones does then? I need an Android that will accept optical inputs and has no video/audio sync issues.

Rockchip does decode multichannel if you use the new img file but only through the optical cable... So make sure if you go Rockchip that the device has optical inputs... There's a new processor out by rockchip I'm not sure if they solved this issue or not...
Amlogic devices are ok, they have the hardware decoding and the sound issues solved...
