    Install Leanback Launcher?

    Hi all,

Just received a new Tronsmart R68 in the post this morning and have been trying it out today. I would like to install the leanback launcher, however, when I tried earlier, I couldn't get it to work.

I downloaded the latest version from APKmirror and then installed it but it doesn't seem to work for me. It just reverts to the pre-installed launcher each time.

Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to do something in order to get it working?

    Thanks!

Actually.... now I've got a bigger problem..... I rebooted to see if anything had changed and now I've got no launcher and no way of accessing anything. Drawer is missing... all I have is the black bar along the top with my Wifi signal and time. HELP!!!

Crisis averted.... several reboots later and my box decided to launch with the leanback launcher running!! From there, I managed to get into the settings to go back to the default launcher.

However, while the leanback now seems to work, only the Kodi app appears and none of the other menu options or recomendations appear (not even the settings options which should be at the bottom).

Any ideas how to get full functionality with the leanback launcher?

Use an ethernet cable to get the leanback launcher to update its recommendations etc. I couldn't get wifi working on my Tronsmart AW80 and others were complaining that they were just stuck at the recommended apps screen. Realised that because I use ethernet on my box I never had that problem.

One other thing is it appears not to work with 3rd party remote - only with the IR one that comes with mine.

Thanks Bally3. I'll give that a try later today.

I noticed on other forums that there are separate launcher apps for YouTube, Play Store and a keyboard, which can be downloaded as .apks. I'm guessing that I'll need these in order to access some of launcher versions of the apps.

Has anyone else managed to get a fully functioning Leanback Launcher on any Android TV box? I'm finding it hard to find any information/help/posts about it online?

Leanback tbh is a Pita. Its hard work to use especially the keyboard. On my Tronsmart AW80 build there's an alternative tv launcher called HphTVLauncherEx which I personally think is the better TV launcher.

Ideally, I want to get the stock look and feel of Android TV, so that's why I've avoided the other launchers...

I have a Bluetooth keyboard which worked well with it when I tried it last night - I'm just missing all the apps, the recommendations and settings options.

Let us know how you progress. I'd love to have a fully functional leanback launcher for this device
